Went here for the first time. This is 30-40 mins drive for me so it isnt that close but saw that this place has the highest rating/most reviews in the area. I love vietnamese beef fried rice and usually that’s the first thing i get on the menu when trying out new vietnamese spots. Unfortunately this place disappointed me. The rice was ok, but would never get it again from here. The beef was pretty much the same meat used in pho like brisket. I was expecring a bit more like skirt steak beef. There was sprouts and egg but very sparringly. I can’t describe the taste but honestly it tasted what i could only describe as having liver spread. Now i have eaten in viet town in orlando and in south florida theres a spot that i have been going to since 2003 and both places has been consistently cooking beef fried rice just the way i like it: not soggy, a bit oily, lots of sprouts and generous ground pepper. So this is my base when comparing local vietnamese spots here in NC. So far i have not found that same taste. Now please don’t get this review wrong as it is specific to their beef fried rice. Another bad experience i had on my first visit is that there was a fly that kept flying over my table and the table in front of me. The staff was very nice, honestly i thought they knew everyone who was eating, they were hugging them and telling each and every one “see you tomorrow” lol Unfortunately, due to the well -below than expected experience i have (seeing they have 4.7 star rating and hundreds of great reviews, i don’t believe it would be worth another 30-40 min drive to try out their other dishes, which in their defense, seems to be a good variety. Oh and they have specialty shakes like durian, sour sop, etc so that’s...
Read moreThe food was really good but the service for us not so much. When we arrived there was a delay on any food being prepared because an issue with the gas line. We were told that it would be up and running in about 10 to 15 minutes. This delay was understandable. We’ve heard good things about the restaurant so we decided to be patient and wait. The issue with their customer service began as we watched about 3 to 4 other tables seated after us receive their food including a table with a much larger group than ours. The customers at the other tables that got their food sooner though being seated long after we were appeared to have been regulars who came to the restaurant judging by the conversations I heard between the servers and each the customers at the other tables. There were a couple tables that were seated after my group and left before we had gotten our food. This lead me to realize the servers were only catering to the regulars that came to their restaurant and ignored my group for a while. It got to the point where we could no longer remain quiet about the issue and brought it up to management and the server. At first they claimed it was because they had a reservation. How this is clearly not true. A reservation is to secure a table at a specific time not ordering food in advance. The only time food is ordered in advance is for a takeout order. So this was clearly a lie. They eventually apologized when they realized we did not buy this story. They offered us nothing to offset this inconvenience and rudeness. The food was good but I’ll never eat here again because of how terrible we were treated that night. We there to celebrate my friends birthday and they...
Read morePossibly the most overrated "restaurant" we've ever encountered. 12 min of sitting before anyone approached the table and when that person learned of our desire to order a beverage they were rude, hurried and did everything short of roll their eyes. Immediately upon the drinks being brought to the table, the owner / host aggressively approached our table to get an order, totally ignored multiple attempts to learn more about the menu options, etc. She crescendoed her assault on our table by simply telling each person in our party what they were going to have without description other than "beef, pork, shrimp" or any acknowledgement to one person in our party trying to ask questions repeatedly because of some food allergies. Everyone's food arrived very quickly (the person with allergies food arrived 4 minutes before the other dishes at the table). Each dish was flavorful, well prepared and nicely presented except for the person with allergies - they got steamed beef, shrimp, a couple of noodles and vegetables with no seasoning at all. That person applied hot sauce and ate it anyway due to the fact nobody bothered to check on us for the next 15-20 minutes. They are running a drive thru disguised as a restaurant on a mission from Hades to turn tables as fast as possible. So many better Asian options to choose from in town (Moon Thai in SouthPark for example). Prices were reasonable but absolutely no hospitality or care for the patrons. It might be a decent potential carry out option, But we'll...
