I’ve been a fan of Mama Gee’s food for a while the flavors are amazing, and I really enjoy their dishes. Unfortunately, the customer service during my most recent order was so disappointing that I don’t see myself returning.
I called multiple times before finally getting through on the third try. I placed my order for okra stew and jollof rice around 12:00 and was told it would be ready at 1:20. My fiancé arrived at 1:40 to give them extra time, but he was told it would be “5 more minutes.” While waiting, he watched other customers who ordered after him get their food before ours. Each time he asked about the order, he was told again “5 more minutes.”
I tried calling the restaurant several times for clarification since we had a prior engagement, but my calls went straight to voicemail. I even had to Facetime my fiancé so I could speak directly to someone there. He finally received the order at 2:20, an hour later than quoted with no apology or acknowledgment of the delay.
The food itself has always been wonderful, but the lack of accountability and disregard for customers’ time is unacceptable. Sadly, as much as I’ve loved their food in the past, I won’t be...
Read moreI recently traveled to the area and kept passing by Mama Gee, curious to see what this cozy spot was all about. After a quick Google search and some tempting photos, I made sure to arrive just in time before they closed. I was greeted by Kwabena, who not only took my order but also made things happen in the kitchen to ensure everything was perfect. The entire experience felt like a warm welcome home—the environment was clean, and the family members working there were genuinely kind and attentive, making me feel like part of their community.
When I finally got home with my food, I couldn’t wait to dive in—and wow, every bite was worth it! The flavors were authentic, rich, and clearly made with care. This was hands down one of the highlights of my trip, and I’ll definitely be coming back whenever I’m in town. Mama Gee’s is a hidden gem that deserves every bit of the...
Read moreWas greeted at the door with big smiles from both customers and the staff (especially Kolby) It had been a while since I had African food and a woman was quick to point at her favorite so of course I said yes. Fortunately they still had some left as it was near closing because I heard if there is something you really favor, you should call ahead to reserve it. So delighted to have found this sweet spot. The flavors are rich yet not overdone. I had planned on saving some of the roasted chicken and plantain dish to share but gobbled it up. It was too good! I’m looking forward to going in early next week and bring home a few entrees for the family. There is not a place to dine in, but a comfortable area to wait. I highly suggest everyone try Mama Gee’s food and you will find yourself...
