It’s quite difficult to find authentic Italian cuisine in Charlotte, or anywhere in the southeast for that matter. Most highly touted restaurants that claim to be “authentic” have invariably let us down time and time again. Pasta and Provisions is the lone exception.
We accidentally happened upon this wonderful restaurant/pre-made takeout one day and consider it quite the find for us.
From the first time we crossed the threshold we were happily greeted by everyone inside, and have experienced the same welcoming atmosphere every time we return. This is the epitome of exceptional customer service and reminded me of my childhood days of visiting locally owned and operated private businesses in New York that took pride in their unique fares, and customer relationships.
From frozen pre-made (homemade) meals ranging from all types of pasta (Lasagna, Ravioli, Cavatelli, Gnocchi, Manicotti, Stuffed Shells, etc….) to Italian classics such as ( Pasta e Fagioli, Italian Wedding Soup) and assorted pizzas, this finely run shop of delicacies is operated with pride and run with precision and heart.
We’ve had their wonderful fresh pastas (which are made in house), assorted breads, deli salads, and desserts. They sell hard to acquire wine by the bottle that are reasonably priced alongside of imported Italian delicacies galore for you to create your own meals at home.
The portions for their pre-made meals are very large and have clear instructions for cooking. The hardest part of being inside the store is trying to get out. There are so many delectably fresh choices, and options, that I find my myself visualizing available freezer space at home for everything I want.
I haven’t even mentioned their par-baked bread yet…just try it.
The store is extremely clean and we’ve always found it easy to park. There are picnic tables available adjacent to the store at an outdoor patio that I wanted to sit at and people watch had I had the time.
Imagine a place where, if you absentmindedly forget to buy some freshly grated Parmigiano Cheese to go along with that evening’s dinner, the professionals behind the counter will say, “Take it…you can get us next time.” This actually happened!
I can’t give Pasta & Provisions enough praise. I understand there are other locations besides the one we frequent on Park Road. We cannot wait to visit the others as well.
Unfortunately, there is no food left in this house to take a photo of. It disappeared quickly....
Read moreOur experience here yesterday for dinner was just ok. Maybe we came on an off-pasta day, but when we came here last night for dinner around 6:30, my spaghetti tasted somewhat over-cooked? Or maybe like it had been pre-cooked earlier and somehow re-heated when I ordered. I created a bowl with spaghetti, sauce, and mushrooms. My husband had the mushroom ravioli, which was kind of floppy, some were pretty flat/without much flavoring inside. He got chicken on top, which was chunked in all different sizes and just wasn't a nice plating/presentation. Bread on the side, as someone else said in an earlier review, was cold. They could stand to heat it up for a sec or ask if you want it toasted. I would have liked some parmesan cheese or something on top of my dish, but it wasn't offered. It was not busy at all, so there could have been more effort placed on plating/presentation/cooking of food. The servers and people at check-out were all very nice, but were very engaged in talking to one another and patrons. This is good if you can keep up quality of food at the same time. Maybe we came on an off night or...
Read moreWhere do I start. First of all - I was in town looking after family and stopped by for a to-go meal. Literally have never seen a place like this before. EVERYTHING appears to be made by hand? What started with a lasagna somehow turned into lasagna, wine, tiramisu, cannolis, focaccia and pizza.
Went home. Kids devoured pizza and focaccia and adults had the lasagna and desserts. Literally can’t describe how good everything was. I’m not sure what wizardry takes place here - but truly was the most delicious lasagna I’ve ever had. Ever.
The nicest part of it all was that I asked if they sold milk (my nephew still drinks from a bottle and I was about to pick him up from daycare). They did not - but graciously offered to put some from the back into a container for me so that I didn’t have to make a second stop on the way home.
I’m not sure what gentleman checked me out, but if he reads this - thank you! This food made a really difficult week insanely better. Keep up the awesome customer service and...
