Tastee King Donuts — Restaurant in Chattanooga

There's something truly special about this place. The donuts at Tastee King aren't like your normal gourmet donuts that, say, taste amazing for a couple donuts but are maybe a bit TOO sweet or rich; No, the donuts at Tastee King are like Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donuts: you can eat a half dozen and still crave more. There's something just a little bit better with these donuts than the aforementioned places though. TK donuts have their own special flavors that Sakal, the owner has probably come up with (im assuming he did). Theres your traditional Bear Claws, Custard or Cream filled, chocolate or strawberry topped, traditional glazed- all the staple donuts are here, but again, there's those unique flavors that really set Tastee King apart. My personal favorites are the Strawberry Shortcake Donuts, of which there are 3 variants, and the Rainbow Donuts (Airhead sour strips are positioned on top and give the donut the rainbow topping that gives it its name). Whew, when you get a little piecec of that strip with the donut- Oh my!- its such a unique flavor... truly delicious and one that I haven't ever encountred before in a donut; I absolutely love it. Also, there are delicious full size pigs-in-a-blanket which come in 3 delicious flavors. Finally, to top it all off, they have these energy drink fusions, my favorite of which is the peach, that offer a fantastic alternative to coffee in the morning and pair wonderfully with the donuts. So... I have gone on and on about the amazing donuts but what really makes TK special is the service. Sakal, the owner, truly loves what he does and you'll see it immediately when you enter. I love this place and it's because of his passion for his work that I believe Tastee King is so fantastic. Truly, I would take Tastee King donuts over ANY OTHER DONUT. I crave these donuts and at this point I try to get them at minimum once every 2 weeks. Do yourself a favor and...

According to their hours, they're open until 12:30pm. Went there at 11:30am, they were closed. Weird. Went there another day at 11am, guy was locking up the shop saying they sold out of donuts. And nobody can make more?? You're a freakin donut shop! Figured it was a fluke. Went a 3rd day at 11am to find a very minimal selection of donuts. The donuts were just average, although the cheesecake filling is pretty delish and would have been next level mixed with a fruit filling but the lady said, even though they add the filling right then, that they can't mix fillings...why would you refuse a simple customer request? So weird...anyway, I was told the bakers are only there till 10am. If you're consistently selling out by 11am and have years of reviews from people complaining about this same issue, either make more donuts, extend the baking hours, or change your store hours! This was a horrible experience.

I expected the donuts to be better/unique/different than they are if regularly selling out 1.5 hours before close. They're just average donuts...although the blueberry cake donut is pretty bomb.

Unless you're an early riser, save yourself the disappointment and choose...

This place is really cool! My father-in-law & I stopped in there today for the first time & I've never had so much fun getting donuts! The manager there was so friendly & so nice! He laughed & joked with my father-in-law. He also explained how much flour he uses in a day,and how many donuts came out of that. He made it interesting! He was very informative about the donuts & deals! He was just awesome all around! That was just the service, now about the donuts.. We got a dozen mixed donuts, I tried a regular & a fancy & a special donuts and they were so delicious! It was 1pm & they tasted like he just made them! We didn't try the coffee because he was honest & said it was old. He didn't make any fresh because there wasn't enough customers! We need to change that! I HIGHLY recommend you try this place, and they have more than just donuts! I also saw pigs in a blanket & breakfast burritos. There is an area that you can even dine in if you want! I promise you will not regret trying...
