Usually love Rossini’s, but had an absolute terrible experience for my daughter’s birthday dinner. I ordered 4 pizzas to be done for 7 pm. After taking my order, the woman said they’d be ready in 45-50 minutes. I asked if they could be done for 7 (I ordered around 5:30 pm) but the phone call disconnected. I called back to a busy phone line several times. When I finally got a hold of the restaurant, I was told the pizzas were already underway so they’d be done in 45-50 mins instead of 7 pm. Not a big deal.
My husband gets to the restaurant and the line is into the parking lot. I had to actually go and pick up my daughter’s ice cream cake and our other groceries from his car so they didn’t spoil while he waited. When my husband entered the lobby, they had him pay and continue to wait. He waited just under 1.5 hours with no updates or apologies. Instead employees just yelled at one of the staff repeatedly. I called the restaurant to check on our order and to see if we could be refunded. It was already past 7 pm and this was for my 2 yr old. When I asked for an update I was told “Oh I don’t really know, everything is backed up here.” And when I asked if she thought it was be much longer and explained it was for my 2 yr old who needed to go to bed soon, the worker replied “yeah I don’t really know.” The pizzas ended up being done within a few minutes after that call.
I’ve had many great experiences here, thus the 2 stars. But this one experience was awful and makes me not want to ever go back. At the very least, we should have been provided and update or apology. It was terrible service and everyone that was over for my daughter’s dinner was disappointed in a restaurant...
Read moreI hate to be contrarian to the other reviews -- and I really wanted to love this place -- but oh boy, were we disappointed.
First off, our dinners took nearly an hour to arrive. Now, I know that times can feel longer when you're hungry and wait times are long, but I happened to make a phone call as we were placing our drink orders so I had a rough marker to measure against.
That said, I'd have forgiven this if the food was good. It was not. My wife and I shared a chicken parm dinner. When I say that it was the worst chicken parm I've ever had at a restaurant, I am not exaggerating. It was literally the worst. I would have enjoyed a microwave meal more.
My father ordered baked ziti. He said it was dry. He had to ask for extra sauce, but he said it didn't help. The sauce honestly tastes like Stop and Shop can sauce they just add some seasoning to.
They also don't bring you bread before the meal unless you ask. We asked, and our waitress very cheerfully brought some. We noticed a table next to us ask for bread after getting their meal and they got the same response: "of course!," and she brought them bread, too. But this kind of thing should just be standard.
Overall, the whole experience just stunk. To be fair, we didn't have the pizza, and every review seems to rave about the pizza, so maybe we'd feel differently if we had ordered that, I don't know. But we will not return...
Read more10/28/18 Had lunch today with sis & cousins, since they're homeward bound on Monday. Sis suggested Rossini's, a nice pizza joint local to her home. Good call sis! As it was a damp, chilly October afternoon, I elected to start with a bowl of chicken-pastina soup that was very generously portioned and full of chicken, veggies & pastina. It really was good and definitely took the chill out of my bones. Sis ordered a small 12" seafood pizza that she said was excellent. One cousin ordered a small 12" Hawaiian pizza with ham & pineapple that we teased her about throughout our lunch, saying she must actually be a Californian, and my other cousin selected a Margherita pizza with fresh mozzarella, fresh tomato, fresh basil & garlic. I opted for my standby sausage, cheese, peppers, & mushroom grinder (sub, hoagy, or pick your region's name for this kind of sandwich LOL). The three women had very little pizza to take home with them, so it musta' been pretty darned good! I managed to finish my grinder, though I don't know how. It was overstuffed and very, very good. Our server was a delightful young lady, who was Janey on the spot. One star knocked off because we were REALLY hungry, and our orders seemed to take an inordinate length of time to prepare. We even joked that they probably had to go to Hawaii to get a pineapple for the Hawaiian pizza. Otherwise, the lunch and service...
