The restaurant itself is beautiful but I would not recommend wasting your time or money here. The meatballs were incredibly dry, inedible. Our entire party complained about them. The beef was served cold and flavorless, the potatoes were also flavorless; so greasy and fried over crispy on one side, not cooked through on the other side. The penne a la vodka wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t anything special. For the price we paid per person, very disappointed with it! Unfortunately, we had a very bad experience with an incredibly rude and disrespectful staff member. He claimed to be the manager “Angelo” but I’m not even sure he gave us his real name as he hesitated in answering. He was smug, arrogant, and unprofessional. We booked for a banquet and there was a misunderstanding with the tables THEY had set up for the event, two tables of people weren’t receiving any food. When I asked about why they weren’t being served the family style meals he stated they weren’t getting food as it was too many tables. I asked for clarification as we only put decorations on the tables that were set and we at no point were told those people would not be served any food- I was given an incredibly rude response. When I asked if the portions for the next course could just be split to accommodate those people he told me no, the kitchen had everything already pre-plated and would not be doing that (explains why the beef was served cold). He wore a smug smile on his face and never apologized or tried to work with us, he just told us bluntly no. We ended up having to make people move. When we set up the center pieces on the tables, someone should have told us this and clarified so we could have fixed it beforehand. It was their mistake in setting the tables up and not communicating this before hand. Very poor customer service. We will not be giving them...
Read moreExceptional from start to finish . We like sitting at the bar and the bartenders can be a let down at some places . Let’s face it not everyone has the personality . The bartenders Guy and Alex ( I think I heard right ) were attentive , polite and friendly And made each of the cocktails perfectly. Especially the espresso martinis, they can be a hit or miss . The bar area is big , the set up very well thought out . High tops and plenty of seats at the bar. And now the Food , if you love Italian this is the place . The same owner of Adriana’s in New Haven made his way to our neck of the woods and we couldn’t be more excited as a matter of fact we used to go to Adriana’s but the bar was smaller and we found as we got older we didn’t have the patience to wait for seats like when we were younger lol . But now that IL Gusto opened we didn’t hesitate , second day and we went and we can’t wait to go back . The menu has a little of everything and they didn’t start the specials yet , but when they do it’s so hard to choose . We didn’t order like on a Saturday night, we tend to eat lighter during the week , but what we had was enough to share between the two of us . And just like Adrianna’s the delicious bread comes with the peppers and olives in a tasty vinaigrette ( so Good) Quality fresh ingredients matters. The cold seafood salad and the Caesar we asked for extra anchovies and they were so generous. We split the stuff veal breast . It was delicious . We can’t wait to go back and this time on a Saturday with our...
Read moreMy wife and I were excited to go to IL Gusto for the first time since they opened, we were celebrating her 73 birthday. The hostess was not at the door nor did she appear for about 10 minutes after we seated ourselves at a high top table along the back in the bar area. A waiter came and filled our glasses. When the hostess arrived we asked if they had a Happy Hour because one of their website said they did and another said they didn’t? We told her that we were just going to have appetizers and drinks. She said rudely no they had no Happy Hour and said we had to move to the bar since ALL the tables in the restaurant had reservations. At this time the restaurant was almost empty. My wife explained to her that I am deaf and I read lips, sitting at the bar makes it hard for me because I am not across the table. She insisted we had to move!! My wife asked to talk to the manager. Still being rude, she came back and said we had to move. So we told her we were going somewhere else and left. To say the least it is not a pleasant place nor is the management...
