Magri's Market & Deli — Restaurant in Chicopee

Been going here for a few years and the food is good. Refuse to go back when the tall lady woth the hat is working because of how many times I've been spoke rude to or given attitude by her for absolutely no good reason that I could come up with. There was one time I went in 20 minutes before close and I didn't know they closed in 20 minutes but I work full time and go to school I just wanted lunch and the tall lady with the hat was being obnoxiously rude and even the other customers could tell and apologized to me for her being rude to me when they came in at the same time and she wasn't treating them the same way or speaking to them the same way. We ordered two sandwiches and the sec9nd she went to make it she started slamming the metal pans and lids and was obnoxiously slamming things to make us aware that she's mad. Someone walked in ten minutes after us about ten minute before close and he did not get the same treatment. It got to the point where I almost walked out AFTER she made my food because I am really not okay with random people speaking to me any way they please because they're upset since I wouldn't do that to someone because of my own personal reasons. I've also noticed that the tall lady with the hat is EXTREMELY respectful to my grandmother and anyone over the age of 40 or anyone who looks rich, but when me and my boyfriend go in, and we've been going for quite a while and everyone else is so nice to us, but she always has an attitude or is rude to us. Food is great but her attitude honestly just makes me not want to ever spend my money there. And I am a person that likes to tip everywhere I go even if I'm not dining in or being served. I also like to give generous tips even though I don't have money like that but if I ever do go back which I probabpy won't ever if she's there but I probably won't be tipping just because of all the times i've been disrespected by her. My daughter and I went to Magri's for lunch today. My daughter had a gift certificate for $25 which she received 4 years ago. She was told that because it was a paper gift certificate the registers would not take it and refused to honor it. I paid for the sandwiches. When I got home I looked up the law. Massachusetts law states that a gift certificate is good for a minimum of 7 years. Today I went to Magri's with a copy of the law regarding gift certificates. The manager was not happy but ended up giving me $25 which was the balance of the gift certificate. Magri's used to give out gift certificates for a certain price and when you went to buy something there they deducted what you purchased and wrote the remaining price on the card. I was told today that anyone could have changed the balance (which I took to mean that I did it myself and was lying). They did this on all cards and I know this because my daughter had a card, my grandaughter had a card and I had a card. So to be almost accused of changing the balance on my card was an insult. Horrible way to treat customers. I have no complaints about the food and had I been treated respectfully I would still go there. They were doing something illegal, tried to cover it up with excuses and got caught. I hope nobody else gets treated like this. Absolutely best place to get a yummy sandwich in the area. I come here generally anytime I am traveling on I-90 (given that they are open and I have time), they are a little off the beaten path, roughly 4.5 mi from I-90 (with traffic and lights, it can take 25mins both directions), but its worth it everytime. By far the Magri's Mac is my favorite sandwich, the meatloaf is perfect and that thousand island, so good. Their pre-made salads are always so good.
