I'm a big bread bowl clam chowder fan. So when I found out about this place from Inland Empire Explorer on Facebook, I had to give it a shot.
The good: -Food quality. The chowder was very good. You can taste the main ingredients, which came together well, and one didn't overpower the other. The bread bowl is a good size (larger than Disneyland/CA Adventure) and had a nice "toast" to it. -Cleanliness/Atmosphere. Well kept, decorated, and clean. Not sure how long it's been open, but it still has a "new" look.
The not so good: -Any place that offers clam chowder, whether in a cup, bowl, bread bowl, should at the very least offer crackers, preferably oyster crackers. They did not, so I made do with the bread bowl top. -Though the chowder and bread bowl were both very good in taste, the bread bowl wasn't emptied enough for my liking, as there was still too thick of a bread layer at the bottom, so I didn't get as much clam chowder as I initially thought. -The restaurant's seating capacity is too small. When you go inside, about ā of the entire room is kitchen and the rest allows for 3 tables, each with only 2 chairs. When I sat down at one of them, I was literally back to back with the person seated behind me and I had to be careful not to back into her when I stood up. There are some tables outside as well, but it can pose a problem to be under the sun on a hot day or when it rains. -I really dislike the new cash registers that when paying by credit card (after placing an order), ask for a tip. It's uncomforting to see it appear on the screen and you feel obligated to leave...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is my second time and last time visiting West Coast Sourdough, the first time i did not have any issues thought it was good. I ordered online today and ordered 2 sandwiches and 2 mac and cheese which are 6.25 a piece. Picked the order up and the receipt on the bag said my sandwiches and 2 mac and cheese cups and I should have checked before leaving. They had replaced my 2 mac and cheese with 2 cookies, which I did not order or want and definitely did not want to pay 6.25 a piece for them. Called and told them what happened and the guy told me yeah we ran out of mac and cheese (at 12:27 pm) so we replaced them with 2 small cookies, and I said I do not eat cookies nor do I want them. SO he passed me off to another girl who still didn't seem to want to help me so I drove back over for a full refund only to be told oh we have your mac and cheese now, and then ask how can I make this right. I just wanted a refund at that point. They could have told us this when we picked up the food or called the number on my order but instead I was given 2 cookies that would have been thrown away and out $12.50 for my original mac and cheeses. This is shady business and I cannot and will not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI stopped in to see if they had any sweet treats. I was excited to see a few to select from. I ordered a cookie šŖ and to my surprise, was given a numberā¦okay, no worries I guessā¦. Quickly I started to take notice that everyone that was waiting for their food prior to me were all a bit aggravated. At first I thought that one lady was being a bit dramaticā¦but the next guy also got frustrated and then finally the other guy. In total it took them 10 minutes to give me a cookie š³š¤Æ. Iām a huge advocate of small business and go out of my way to support them, but message to the ownership, you guys have to fix the wait times or process that the food comes out. The store itself was super clean, well decorated and sharp. The other menu items seemed amazing, but manā¦I hesitant to come back and go through a longer wait for what seems like it should be āfast foodā. Not sure if it was a staff issue, or poorly designed systems, but my thought is that itās just the staff following the SOPās⦠Hopefully things change or I think this place wonāt last. Btw, the cookie was...
