Excellent!! The restaurant is recently renovated and it is a very cute vintage rustic design. The staff were fun, welcoming, and very helpful in helping us select our dinner items and customize our meals. We started with the French onion soup which was so delicious and full of fresh mozzarella that it was devoured before I could get a picture. Then we moved on to the Brussel sprouts which were in Alfredo sauce and were quite good. And lastly we had the walleye fish fry which had the BEST French fries I've ever had, and also probably the best battered fish I've ever had. The fries were sliced in a way that cooked them perfectly on all sides and delivered the most sensational crunchy outside, soft inside that I've ever experienced; I've never had fries like them before and I will remember them forever. The beer batter on the fish was thinner and crunchier than most, and it really let the delicious walleye flavor shine. HIGHLY recommend the French onion soup as well as the fish and chips.

Eaten at the Stone In for the first time recently. The rating is due to the one meal. When I go there again which I plan to, the next time may be more. The lemonade is typical for a place that sells liquor. The fountain soda is also lame. No place that sells liquor ever cares to have decent non-liquor drinks.

Ordered cheeze curds which were cooked but were HEAVILY battered, I am going out on a limb here and say that anything with breaded batter is going to be heavy. Also ordered 1/2 chicken which also was HEAVILY battered. The curds were edible though I thought I almost cracked a tooth on one of them but it was the crispy thick batter.

So the main course was 1/2 broasted chicken. Was glad I ordered 1/4 dark and 1/4 whiter meat as recv'd a leg and wing for the dark which was 1/4 the size of the 2 white breast pieces. One of the two white breast piece was HUGE. Never got something that big from KFC. As the chicken was HEAVILY battered. It was pretty much uneatable. Just too rock hard with all of the batter. It would be considered extra extra crispy KFC. Normally that would have triggered one star but took the chicken home and after sitting overnight, the crispy batter was soft and very tasty so was able to eat the dinner portion in its entirety, Nothing wasted and was well seasoned, Much better than what would be served at KFC.

If I had ordered just the 1/4 dark meat for $9, that would have been expensively sad.

Loved the non-standard type of coleslaw. Also much liked the mashed taters because it also had the skin. Others don't like that. Shows the cook is not making instant.

Had cheesecake for desert which is ok. the raspberry toppy seems old or something. Order it on the side if you get it. Maybe the cake was homemade and I'm not used to it.

Will go back and try another dish. This place has the same curse of flies as others do. Seems no one invests in fly paper or something. That always detracts from the meal experience. It was noisy for a place with just a dozen tables. What are they trying to drown out with...

My wife and I came every week to get crispy chicken sandwich. It was hands down the best we both have ever had.. Thechicken was a full breast and was thick and flavorful. About a year ago the chicken started to get thin. A breast was cut in half. Now just a square chunk of white meat that has no flavor. I had to oversalt it and add my season sour cream to get a few more bites. Sadly after fading to every 4 weeks to every few months one of us tying new things o the menu hoping the chicken would improve. Burgers are tasteless frozen hard patties, sandwiches lack filling and are all bread, and the fish is poor quality. We will never go back after last night. Owners...eat your food and judge it yourself.. You lost good repeat customers by being cheap. I would have paid more to get a good whole breast if that's the case poor choices. By the way the dinner crowd looked. Others feel the same. Packed to now a half filled restaurant at dinnertime. Was it worth it in liquor sales to line your pocket on downgrading he quality of food served? Just like the log cabin. Brought family there for a birthday party. Ordered prime rib and had 3 bites and sent it back refusing another cut . It was so chewy I could not swallow and spit the meat that would not break down in my cloth napkin. Again a classic place that had lines. Out the door and now you get uncooked bloody roasted chicken served 3 times the same way. All to fill up on jojos. The passion to serve great food has now turned into a business about money. I get it cooks are hard to come by. But pay more and charge more then. Or sell and let someone takeover these staple establishments that has the drive to be legendary and serve...

My girlfriend and I were super excited to eat here as we really wanted to support the local economy after the Chisago Triathlon. Never again will we support in this way again. First, the food. The fries were incredible! Very flavorful and they were shaped as chips!! We loved them :). My bison burger had ZERO seasoning on it...it was okay at best. My girlfriends chicken was really good but she said her adult beverage was eh at best. Atmosphere was okay. The service....sorry it just plainly SUCKED!! We came in through the back entrance and saw the sign wait to be seated. No problem. We literally stood there for 5 minutes while hostesses and waitresses came by and just looked at us. We finally decided to just walk to the front. Just like magic we were seated! Maybe take the "wait to be seated" sign off the back door?????? Secondly, we waited a longer than acceptable time for our food. For this I do understand as there were other athletes there and it was busy. So no biggie there. What I cannot understand is why we waited 30 MINUTES to get our check!!! That is simply UNACCEPTABLE!!!! My girlfriend and I wasted 3 hours of our time waiting and eating when we could have just hit the local Quik Trip(like we usually do), got food, and then left. We will be back for the triathlon next year but we will not support local restaurants. Just Quik Trip. I usually don't do reviews unless a place is exceptional or horrible. Hopefully management can...
