Overall a good spot and we will be returning... We had fried mushrooms as an app & the Friday night specials Surf and Turf and the fried fish. Breading/batter for the mushrooms was delicious. The mushrooms themselves were a little small, but you still get a decent portion size. Hey, it's fresh produce you don't always get a consistent size and this size it easier to cook correctly consistently so I get it. Ranch dipping sauce is a standard bottled brand not great not the worst either. No picture since my buddy dug right in before I got a chance to get a picture Surf and turf is a Ribeye and shrimp with 2 sides $23 I think the steak is good quality and well seasoned. We ordered medium rare and there were a couple places where it was unevenly cooked( it was a very thick and sometimes it really can't be helped) but even the "overdone" parts were still tender with good flavor. The grilled shrimp was pretty standard, but waffle fries were hot and fresh. My 1st order of fish was a little cold. I liked the breading and it was well fried so that the thinner parts of of the filets were nice and crispy without the rest being dry. (Not everyone executes this well) I also love the fact it automatically comes with onions and pickles on the side and the pickles are fantastic 2and round of fish was piping hot and delicious. I think preferences on coleslaw vary from person to person, but I thought theirs was very good. It was a good balance of sweet and tangy and super creamy. Beers were cold and I had one of the handmade Blood Mary's and it was excellent. Service wasn't impressive, but adequate. * I've worked in restaurants for 20+ years so there may be things I am more critical of than the average person, but this also makes me more forgiving of somethings too so take my reviews with...
Read moreI wish it could have been a 5. We are regulars and usually the food and service are really good. The last couple of times, the service has really been lacking. They were busy but not extremely so. Our margarita pitcher arrived with regular glasses, no salt on the rims. We asked for margarita glasses with salt and ice. The waitress said that when you order a picture those are the glasses that you got. We just then asked for real margarita glasses and the salt. We have ordered a lot of pitchers in the past and that is not the way it comes. It wasn't so much the wrong glasses as the attitude of the waitress and of the Busboy who was trying to help. The people around us we're having similar issues as we overheard people say.. " would it kill her to smile?" Or "shhhhhh, she will spit in your food." I realize that everyone has a rough day, or maybe you are short-handed, but it has definitely caused us to not frequent them as we have in the past. As I was telling my mother of this experience, she stated that the chicken they got the last time was small and burnt. The staff didn't seem to care. So I guess they have lost their business as well. Maybe this review will wake them up a little bit because it's always been a fun, good place to go have dinner and spend time with your family...
Read moreThe broccoli was dry and unseasoned. The wild rice was downright ghastly. I'm serious, it was gross. The prime rib was grilled like a steak which I've never seen before. Usually prime rib is cut right off the roast and served that way. Typically served rare. This was not rare. The Italian beef was really awful. Nothing like an Italian beef. The fried livers were 85% breading. The server had way too many tables. The poor service was not his fault. It was management who put him into such a busy section. Our drink orders were taken almost immediately by a someone else. It then took 15 minutes to get our order taken and just as long for everyone to get their food because it didn't come at the same time. The server was taking orders, running food, cleaning tables. All too much for anyone to handle and the customer is the one who pays for it. It was just all in all a disappointment. Definitely won't...
