Thai Orchid — Restaurant in Citrus Heights

This lovely little restaurant is nestled in a strip mall which makes it easy to overlook, but don't make that mistake! The staff are friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is comfortable with beautiful decor all around and warm inviting colors.

I wasn't sure if I had time to dine in, so I'd ordered to-go but decided to stay and eat there after all because it was just so pleasant. I was almost late as a result but it's important to take a time out and enjoy an experience once in a while.

The food was delicious with large portion sizes so you definitely get your money's worth. I ordered the pad thai (vegetarian) and it was enough to serve two adults and leave us both satisfied. I don't know why I didn't try Thai Orchid sooner, but I'll...

We got the shrimp satay and pad see ewe with tofu.

The noodles in the pad see ewe was definitely overcooked, to the point where we ate them in clumps rather than noodles. It made me feel like I was eating mush. The tofu and broccoli in it were good, but overall the pad see ewe was underseasoned and quite bland.

The shrimp satay was also overcooked, and the shrimp was quite tough and dry. The peanut sauce was not flavorful enough to overcome the lack of seasoning on the shrimp either.

Overall, it's not the worst Thai food I've had. Maybe if I was back in college and broke this might do the trick, as it's not terribly expensive (though moreso than other spots). But the lack of seasoning and overcooking brings this...

The tom yum soup here is delicious! We get it every time we visit.

We also ordered Panang Curry with rice and their Pad Thai. Both were flavorful. I was hoping that the curry was a bit spicier though.

Service here is great! They usually only have that one server but he does an amazing job really navigating several tables all at once. Also always so pleasant and kind. He is a huge part of why I would recommend this place.

PS: When we visited, there was a couple of old folks who talked to us before they left and expressed how this was their first time and how impressed they were with the food, then asked us what we plan to order. Lol.
