BEWARE NEW OWNERS! New place is called C. L. Luffy. Website link here no longer works. Very sad to see Oba’s sold. It WAS best place for hibachi and sushi around. We tried new place today and bought 4 hibachis and 3 sushi rolls. They have doubled the price ($100) and the food ingredients seem quality, but it’s been butchered. Shrimp was burnt and tails were left on, chicken was dry and flavorless. Rice was basic and lame (white rice with a little egg, no flavor) hibachi was liquid and runny and wasn’t worth eating we threw most of it in the trash. They serve with soup and salad now maybe that’s why it’s like $15 per order now, but Miso tasted like basic from a pre-fab packet. The salad was ok the ginger dressing was not great (which is usually a favorite of mine). The sushi was fine, nothing special probably about same for normal rolls, but 2x the price. All in all don’t “give it a shot” like we did. Save your money. Go to McDonald’s or Taco Bell and you will be happier…They will not last long.

Loved this nice little place. Food was delicious, especially the sushi. The sashimi was good. Tried the tempura red snapper.... For the first time in my life.... It's prepared and served in an exquisite setting, but honestly I like it more in the sashimi setting. Still was great to have the chance to experience it like that. So many menu items. Price is good too. Had green tea, red snapper tempura, and the sushi and sashimi lunch. Was a very nice dining experience. The miso was good, but didn't taste like Japanese miso. All in all, I recommend this place, it was good.

NEW OWNERS* This location is no longer run by unpleasant people. This restaurant is ran by the MOST pleasant people! They are lovely and the food is so much better than it was. The hibachi rice is flavorful and not greasy. The portions are perfect and well seasoned. The sushi options have expanded in a beautiful way, so many options! And the lunch specials are hard to beat. Truly happy about having these guys in the neighborhood. Just look at this hibachi steak box.. they add in two shrimp as a treat! How delightful!

My sister and our mutual friend stopped in for lunch yesterday (as of this review) and were blown away by how amazing the food was. I am not exaggerating when I say it's the best Japanese food I've had yet.

The Sushi was immaculate, the tea was astounding, and the ramen actually amazed me. I thought I had tasted good ramen before but this was on a whole new level.

If I sound as though I am exaggerating; I won't name-names but I live much nearer to Ithaca and have been to several really good Japanese restaurants over there. This place in Geneva is for real the best I've been to by far, and that is high praise. It's worth the drive for all of us and we'll be going again.

Aside from that the place was very clean and the staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. No "how is it?" while your mouth is full here! They waited to ask until after we were done. haha I really appreciated that.

Highly...

We’ve tried this restaurant a couple times. The food is good. However, customer service is greatly lacking. They are nice enough, but they do not communicate well. What I mean is, I ordered online and went to pick up. First I had to wait about 10 minutes to talk to someone. Then, I told them it was an online order and he said it it’ll be right up. About 30 minutes later and after a couple people who ordered after me picked up their items, I asked where mine was. It appears they hadn’t even started it yet. I get being busy, but they could have avoided the confusion had he asked me about my order at the beginning. I didn’t get my food until over an hour after I ordered it. Very frustrating and all they could say was sorry. He offered me a drink for my troubles, but that was after I waited a full hour mostly in 90 degree weather. Very, very...
