Monterrey Mexican Restaurant II — Restaurant in City of Geneva

Edit: the son of the owner got a hold of me and resolved the issue. He was very nice and explained that there has been some family health issues that his parents were dealing with. He was asked to step in to review the transactions and contact the credit card company to verify things. It took some time but I'm very pleased with the result. He paid me back in full, in cash. We will be back again in the near future.

First off...I loved this restaurant and I have been going here for years but my recent visit had a major issues I've been unable to get resolved. On 6/6 I went with a large group from work for lunch. The food and service were very good but the issue happened when we went to cash out. They had an issue with their computer system and they told us they were unable to run our credit cards. I went to a nearby ATM and got out cash, paid the bill and left a good tip. Later that night I noticed a charge on my credit card for the full amount of $43.79. I called the restaurant and they told me I had to call back when the owner was there on Saturday because they didn't know what to do about it. I explained they could either reverse the charge or refund me the money because I paid twice. They said I would need to talk to the owner and to call back. I now have called back 10 times and I've been told multiple times that the owner will contact me and they have not. I just want my money back. I'm going to dispute the charge on my credit card now because I'm not getting anywhere with them. I'm very disappointed because I love this business but this is horrible customer service. This food was so bad!

Starting with the pros, the staff was super friendly and the salsa was very good.

Everything else was terrible. I got one of the dinner platters with a burrito, tostada and enchilada. The corn tortilla was inedible, the sauces were lacking flavor and the meat was SUPER dry. The beans also had almost no flavor.

My partner got chimichangas and he had to open then and eat around the torilla. Again the meat was flavored super poorly and it was so dry it was hard to swallow.

The margaritas was straight from a mix and was so sweet, they also didn't shake it at all so when I drank from the top down, I got a shot of tequila at the end which I was not thrilled about.

It's a shame the food was as bad as it is because there is some potential. This was 100% a waste of money...

The food was okay; it lacked flavor. I ordered the combo plate with one taco, one enchilada, refried beans, and rice. The ground beef on the taco and in the enchilada was just plain ground beef... no seasoning or spice and very bland. I thought that to be odd in a Mexican restaurant. The Margarita was just some poor tasting mix with tequila, no fruit garnish, and it was served in a 16-oz beer glass. Not too authenic... the flavor of that was not good. The tortilla chips served were warm and crunchy with a good corn flavor. The salsa served with them was outstanding! The gentleman waiter was outstanding with service. The atmosphere inside was clean and neat... but it didn't...
