10/04/2025 Lock City Pizza — My Hometown Favorite
I’ve had pizza from Athens to Oslo, from Las Vegas to New Hampshire and all points in between but nothing tops Lock City Pizza. This is my holy grail — the taste that shaped my childhood. I actually lived above their original shop on East Ave, and that smell of baking dough still sticks with me.
The name may have changed over the years, but the pizza hasn’t — same recipe, same perfection. Baked at 600°, the crust comes out crisp and chewy, just like I remember. One bite and I was right back home again. Whether you call it Lock City or Pontillo’s, it’s still the best pizza I’ve ever had — and always will be.
My rating is a 5 Star but the story goes way back when they were Pontillo's on East Avenue, then Walnut St up in the city.
The menu is simple - you do one thing you do it right. Lock City Pizza does it right!
This is my all time favorite and nothing can ever change that. I've been around the world I've had pizza everywhere I've been. Pizza is very subjective but I've had three great pizzas. One in Athens Greece, one in Oslo, Norway and Lock City pizza. Whenever I get to make my way home this is a must stop because it...
Read moreI’m a native of the Falls area but been here in Lockport 2 years. Co workers have raved about this pizza since we got here but unfortunately the hours are too late in the day to have tried before.
A lot of area pizza in WNY is as much attached to the nostalgia and local repeat business as the pizza and I think that’s part of this place.
It was stated clearly when we called cash only and difficult to get through to order for the popularity. They are busy.
The pizza was good. I remember great but haven’t really found it yet. Better than local chains. I recommend trying. This was a once only try for us; worth trying, not worth repeating. Probably the most expensive pizza I’ve had in years and we get around between Buffalo, Tonawanda and Niagara.
Not rude but left me irritated at pick up and when leaving. Certainly not friendly. Barking at me wasn’t a high point and ignoring me after barking just one sentence even when I said to have a nice day and thanks to him just ignoring me pretty much summed up the entire feeling I left with.
If you’re a long time customer and local, I imagine the experience can be...
Read moreThis place has been around FOREVER, formerly called Pontillo’s prior to a nasty divorce if I remember correctly. I’ve tried all the pizza in the Lockport/Newfane/Gasport/Barker/Medina area and this place has the most legitimate “Pie” in the area. Their large is HEAVY ! It’s the real deal and it tastes great ! The problem with their Za is that if you don’t eat the whole pie in one setting it gets very sloppy on the bottom of the crust. Possibly a victim of too much sauce, toppings etc. (if there could ever be such a thing). I like leftover pizza and with this you don’t get that. The crust is too soggy after an hour or two. Couple other things. Phone is ALWAYS busy ! You WILL have to call 7-10 times to get through and that’s no exaggeration. (good business, right?). Also, limited menu. Lastly, their service is THEE WORST ! As rude as you can possibly get. From the guy that takes your order over the phone to the guy that takes your money at pick up. There’s no excuse for it. Treat people with courtesy. Don’t treat everyone like they’re gum on a...
