When The Village Eatery started in 1979, my mom who lived on Windermere Road commented that there was a great new restaurant in Lockport. It was a place she loved to go for special occasions. In March of 2025, she passed away at the age of 102. Our family gathered in Lockport for her Burial. The evening before the burial we decided that the Village Eatery would be our choice for dinner. One of my great remembrances of Lockport was the Beef on Wick and this place got 5 stars for this sandwich. Trying to bring back all the memories of my childhood in Lockport, when we arrived this was all that was on my mind. The place is really beautiful and our waitress was amazingly joyful. The menu was extensive for the size of the place and everything had high ratings. I ordered the beef on wick... everyone else ordered other dishes. When my plate was placed in front of me, I saw the perfect beef on wick. The horseradish was strong and vibrant. There was beef juice to the side. The meat was piled high. My first bit was amazing. This is the best beef on wick I have ever had. The beef melted in your mouth and the wick seasoning was bold. The combination was such a great bite. It brought me back nearly 40 years when I had my first beef on wick.
Given the service, the warm friendly atmosphere, and the great food our visit was such a pleasure. As always the 5th star is for clean bathrooms and they earned this. Thanks to the chef and staff for an amazing visit...
Read moreWow! Not once, but twice. Been there twice in the last 3 weeks. Friday nights, no reservations, sat down both times within 30 min. Place was very busy both nights. Partner had beer battered fish fry each time. Consistently good...crispy on the outside, done perfectly on the inside and full of flavor. I enjoyed 2 different "specials" each time. First was the Bistro Cod. Very generous sized Cod fillet in a white clam sauce on a bed of pasta (not sure of the name). Just a taste monster... everything about it was mouthwateringly delicious. Next was a Salmon special. Shredded Salmon in a tasty Diavolo sauce over pasta. My only complaint on this was that there was more artichokes than Salmon in my serving. But, the flavor kinda made up for the lack of fish. Can't wait to go back and see what seafood specials they have again. The servers were both great each time and they have a nice selection of beers and wines. Clean place, decor hasn't changed in awhile...who cares! With food this good they could put me at a...
Read moreLess than impressed. Very average French Onion Soup. My companions salad was dried out. The fish on their fish fry is previously frozen... the waitress told me it was "fresh and never frozen" when I inquired. My friend had the manicotti, the filling was like ricotta soup with such an overpowering garlic taste I spit it in my napkin after he asked me to try it and see of it was just him or what did I think. The manicotti shells were literally gummy and underdone. I hadn't been to the Village Eatery in a few years but had always really enjoyed their food previously when I lived in the area. I was upset I suggested this place to my friend out of at least 7 other great places in Lockport.
*Oh, and on top of it our waitress was passing by our table while we were having our meal and literally crop dusted us.... if you dont know what that means google it. Trust me, it wasnt pleasant and was the icing on the cake. Another $50...
