Los Mocanos Restaurant — Restaurant in City of Middletown

I went this place based on the “amazing” reviews and I am highly disappointed . The worst $47 I’ve ever spent. The gandules rice was bland, had no flavor. Pernil didn’t have flavor and didn’t look like normal pernil were it was shredded and falling apart. I asked for white rice and got gandules rice instead. The steak with onions had some thick creamy sauce that didn’t belong with steak and onions. The cheese empanadas were okay this was the first place I seen where they use yellow cheese instead of white. The whole chicken was okay a bit dry but edible . Maduros tasted like they’ve been sitting out all day. The best thing was the chicken and beef empanadas. Maybe I just came too late or they had an off day or something but I don’t think I’ll come back. Okay let me start off saying that I had on my plate before I give this review. I had the roast for the yellow rice and peas Spanish shrimp fried rice. The blood sausage the yucca I have the Chofian The pig feet and nice cold tambourine drink. Okay, both of my rice was very flavorful. My complete meal had so many different flavors popping into my nose. I had no idea what I was eating because everything holds so much flavor. My yucca my blood sausage, both of my rice and pig feet and my roasted pork serve hot. It all looks so great. It took me some time to pick out my choices. Everything looks so fresh and smells so good before it hits my plate. I must say compliments to the chef. He outdone himself for what I heard. I went to pick up an order, and they looked at me like I was furniture, even after I explained why I was there. Then a Spanish guy came in to pick up the same type of order, and they attended to him quickly, while saying nothing to me. I had to go up to the front to inquire about my order & another person (maybe the owner) apologized to me, but he was the 4th person that I encountered. So, I would say, the first 3 people need some training, at the very least! The type of order that I was picking up, is a quick pop in & go everywhere else, however after 20 minutes of waiting & I still ended up with no food.
