I wanted to write this review to give an honest review of my experience at Thrall Library.
The Good:
Wide Variety of Books on Various Subjects Great Programs Online Resources for Learning Clean Bathrooms (For The Most Part) Most Staff is very helpful Computers
The Bad:
The Smell - Maybe its just me, but I feel it has distinct odor that is quite unpleasant. Some of the chairs had bugs in them from people using them, they since changed the furniture to more wood seating to prevent this, but still it has a smell similar to that of shelter/gym.
The Derelicts and Homeless - I don't want to sound too judgmental but there are good amount of people who just reek of garbage and literally do nothing but stay in the library to stay cool or warm. With the soup kitchen across the street, this place is a hot spot for them. I have no problem with any homeless people, I do have a problem with people who are loud, on drugs (aka high), smell bad or smell of alcohol, or with children who scream and have no control. Obviously this is not everyone, but the ones that are, really dampen my experience at the library. I wish their was a public shower and or laundromat for these people to use. Maybe it's something the town should consider. I would gladly pay taxes for that program. The final bad thing is drug use. I have walked in a few times someone shooting up in the bathroom.
Security Guards - Some of the guards are quite nice, however there are few who never smile, always seem to be serious mood. They constantly walk around the entire library as if the people are the inmates, and they are correctional officers. They don't make the library feel very inviting. I understand why they are there, but they just seem too uptight.
WiFi - Very slow WiFi. They should seriously consider upgrading their WiFi. Some parts of the library have no signal, or speeds are similar to dialup. For what they spend on every year to operate the library (3.5 Million approx) They should have a WiFi that can handle the traffic of users
Bathrooms - I know I said they were clean, however I don't like how they keep the men's bathroom door open upstairs. They probably do this to see if anyone is doing any drugs, but I wish they would just keep the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI absolutely love Middletown Thrall Library! The customer service is always top-notch. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly, always going above and beyond to assist with anything you need. Whether it's printing up to five pages for free or accessing a computer, they make everything so easy and accessible. I also appreciate the privacy they offer, allowing for a quiet, focused environment. One of my favorite features is the job wall, which is such a thoughtful touch for those looking for new employment opportunities. It's truly a community hub, and I'm so grateful for the support they provide....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe wifi here is absolutely terrible and the security guards do nothing but walk around and harass you. I came here to study and get school work done and they say I have to go outside to drink my drink? I am an adult and if i am at a table by myself with MY COMPUTER and MY BOOKS what does it matter if I have a drink? Im not going to get up and gather my stuff just to go outside and drink my water. I would rather sit on the frozen hudson river and study than come here again. If I could've given zero...
