Dirty Bird Chicken N' Waffles LLC — Restaurant in City of Niagara Falls

First time ordering here. Wont make the Same mistake twice. Just wanted some good food after working a 12 hr shift so I called and placed my girlfriend and I an order for a fish fry and dirty bird chicken and waffles. guy on the phone didn’t take our number down nothing. Fast forward to when my girl goes to pick the order up, ON time. We live right around the block. She walks in, said the employees literally had their eyes glued to the tv while cooking & handing off the order lol get home, my fish fry is literally falling to pieces it’s such a soggy mess. some kind of mayo or something all over my fries? my girlfriend was supposed to get the dirty bird chicken n waffles and received two taco looking spicy things but after working all day she was starving so she just ate it anyways. So I called in today because obviously after all that last night since we ordered late night they were closed. not sure who I spoke with he didn’t say his name but did identify himself as a manager. said the owner Raul will be in within the next 20/30 minutes and he’ll get back to me with a solution. Finally calls back, says Raul will give us gift cards buttt he left again and didn’t get them out of the safe for us. We were really hoping to get them tonight because we were going to at least try to have them remake the food that we originally wanted. Now we’re screwed out of a second night of dinner, how frustrating. Was really looking forward to liking this place ugh

UPDATE: finally got the gift certificates at 11 pm after we had dinner already- no big deal just happy I got them. We ended up ordering dirty bird two days after receiving them. my girlfriend actually got the chicken n waffles this time and actually said she liked the taco thing better she received the other night. 🤣 my fish on the other hand OMG nothing like that other one I received & the picture SHOWS. was so damn good but that’s about the only thing I’d order...

I was excited to try this spot while I was visiting New York my tour guide had good things to say about it. When I first arrived It wasn’t what I was expecting. First off it’s not a dine in type of location so you will be better off just ordering your food to go. Nevertheless we chose to sit down to eat (heads up they do not have a restroom to wash your hands or use the bathroom) The cashier who took our order was very rude like we were bothering him when he took our order maybe he was having a bad day but still the service was very disappointing. I ordered sweet heat which I was not a fan of. The cheese wasn’t even melted but I didn’t like the fact that cheese came on chicken and waffles either that was a first for me. One of the customers was asking the associate where they ordered there chicken from and was it hand battered. The associate told them they didn’t handbatter there chicken they purchase it from Gordon’s. They did have cheese cake I decided to get a slice because they had a sign that said award winning cheese cake for $6 a slice. I asked was it made in house the cashier said no it was store brought 🤷🏾‍♂️. I believe this is a black owned business and I tried my best as a black man to give them a chance and put a good word out but I can not and will not recommend this place. I love to try food from different places but I was extremely disappointed no more Dirty Bird for me but you all can try at your own risk. I cook. I love it. It let's me share with my family and friends how much I care about them and it brings me joy to bring them a good meal.

Why is that in the review? Because I need you, the reader, to understand I'm not out here giving 5 star ratings out to substandard food like candy.

With all that being said. I got a regular chicken waffle meal, and a bird box sampler delivered by doordash.

I have never, EVER got takeaway and then CALLED THE RESTAURANT to explain to them how good this actually was.

First off, the fries were neither overcooked, undercooked or poorly seasoned. The mozzarella sticks were identically crispy outside while remaining gooey and cheesy inside. The wings had a proprietary black pepper bbq sauce that had a wonderful balance of heat and subtle sweet note against the savory dark meat pieces, and the piece de resistance, the tender itself; A whole, large tender, clearly hand battered and breaded piece of chicken, fried so carefully as not to break all the stalagmites of crunchy flavor.

The color of each of these items indicating the age of the oil, and hygiene of the restaurant as a zenith of food preparation, skill and a true labor of love.
