We were up in Niagara Falls, New York last Sunday night riding all over Buffalo and Niagara Falls looking for something to eat. We wanted anything other than a chain restaurant to eat.
After an hour of riding and looking most everything was closed or closing soon so we decided to just find some pizza to take back to the hotel room.
We Googled pizza in the area and Joey's Pizzeria popped up... we thought let's give it a try.
It was a cold winters night...we pulled up to the restaurant and I immediately thought... this looks like a great place to get a legit New York Pizza Pie.
As we walked in it was empty and was about to close for the night. The gentlemen behind the bar asked us how we were and asked what we'd like. We explained that we traveled up to Niagara Falls from Tallahassee Florida and we wanted some authentic New York food.
I'll admit that I've never had anything but chain pizza to eat. I had never had New York or Chicago style pizza before... suffice to say that I had no idea what I was in for that Sunday night in Niagara Falls New York.
So, we ordered a half tray of pizza... 1/2 pepperoni 1/2 cheese. We also ordered 30 wings 1/2 mild the other half 1/2 garlic butter.
They happily turned the oil back on and cooked our order even though they were about to close for the night.
While the order was being put together I sat down on one of the bar stools lining the bar. As I sat there I noticed pictures behind the bar. It was pretty cool looking at the pictures of family and tradition on display. It felt like sitting inside someone's living room sharing a beer with old friends.
After paying for our meal and saying thank you to the guys that prepared it, we left feeling really satisfied by the great smells coming from the boxes.
The ride to the hotel was unbearable.... it was well worth it.
That first bite of pizza was absolutely life changing. The quality of the ingredients made all the difference in the flavor. I've never in my life had pizza or wings that were that amazing.
The wings in Tallahassee Florida are saucy and overpowering.
The wings at Joey's Pizzeria were awesome and full of flavor.
I can not recommend, any higher, or with any more enthusiasm, the food at Joey's Pizzeria in Niagara Falls, New York.
We did not have any better food on our trip to New York State... if you go or your friends and family go to Niagara Falls, be it the Canadian side or the American side... Joey's Pizzeria in Niagara Falls has got to be on the top of the...
Read moreDo not eat here if you want to avoid an extremely aggressive and easily agitated owner.
To start, I’ve never even left a review of any business on any platform- but my experience at Joey’s Pizzeria recently is enough to change that. I’m a now former long-time customer, and have been getting pizza from them since I was probably 8 years old. The other day, I placed a delivery order for a half tray with cheese, sweet peppers, and onions, my usual. Unfortunately it showed up with pepperoni on it. I’ve been a vegetarian for 15 years, and couldn’t eat it if I wanted to. This was not the problem.
I wasn’t even upset, it was a mild inconvenience. But, when I called to inform them about the mistake, the guy instantly got angry. He said he is the owner and took my order personally, that my phone was breaking up when I placed the order (it was not, he had no trouble hearing me when I placed it and never indicated ANYTHING to suggest that he did), claimed he read the order back to me (he certainly did not, three people in the room when I placed the order can confirm).
But regardless of both of those facts, he didn’t acknowledge even the possibility that the mistake was theirs. That he may have misheard “sweet -peppers-” as “pepperoni“. An easy enough mistake to make, and one that I wouldn’t even be bothered by, but the way he spoke to me was HIGHLY aggressive, accusatory, and not becoming of the owner of a business. All he could do was communicate how annoyed he was. Certainly not deserving of my business any further. One customer, I understand, is a drop in the bucket. But the owner should seriously reevaluate how he handles situations in the future. It doesn’t take long to ruin a reputation.
The food here is okay, service has been generally okay until now, but just expect that if they happen to make a mistake, you will quite likely be blamed and treated poorly as a result. From what I read, this is not uncommon.
Better options for pizza both in terms of taste and service are available in the Falls. Consider that...
Read moreMy first time to this neck of the woods. I saw some good reviews so I thought I'd try it out. The view from outside doesn't do justice to the decore, friendly environment, and fantastic food waiting inside. The staff were very welcoming when I arrived to what looked like an upscale neighbor pub. They offered me a seat in view of the game and put in my order - pizza and wings.
I love pizza and wings in the Niagara Falls NY area, but for me it's often hit or miss. This turned out to be a big hit.
The staff were quick to fill my drink order and I shared pleasant conversation until the food was brought out.
The pizza and the wings came out piping hot. I dug into the wings first and they were delicious and a bit larger than I expected. The sauce was good and the chicken wasn't dry like I've experienced in some other places. The pizza was done perfectly and was also delicious - a perfect blend of cheese, pepperoni and a tasty tomato sauce. I added hot peppers to finish it off.
Justin and the rest of the staff did a great job making my first experience at Joey's very satisfying. I'll be back the next time I'm...
