Ordered a toasted egg and olive sandwich. It arrived nicely toasted, skimpy on the filling. Should include chips for $5.50 IMO. Took the first bite thought it was a little off, couldn't figure how. It's egg and olive how could one screw it up. Another bite because I've never had bad experiences here or with any other egg and olive. It was a 3 bite per 1/2 sandwich . Opened it up after tasting a ton of mayo. It was loaded with more mayo than egg or olive.
I set it aside and was asked if I wanted something different. I stated my distaste for it and they claimed I ate half (2/6 bites total) and should have to pay for it. I can more than afford to pay my ticket but shouldn't have to when grossed out. My options were get something different after losing my appetite or pay in full. This type of pay when it was shown the reason it was nasty was unacceptable. I will never return to this establishment again.
The basics are screwed up and the conflict resolution is unjust. They acted like I was trying to get out of paying when paying is the furthest problem I have. I have been very blessed in my life and been fortunate for all I have. I hope this business can learn and understand how too much mayo is gross. But no one cared.
I will NEVER go back again when I was visiting usually every 3 months or so as I don't live here. Disappointed and disheartened. Still tipped her $10 even though she couldn't manage to understand. Wanted to give $20 but she couldn't do the right thing. The right thing will cost you myself and my family along with this negative review. Thanks for all the other great experiences, but sadly never again out...
Read moreThis review might be considered a bit "late", as the last time I ate here, the internet and Google were not too popular, much less available to everyone. Anyways, I had many breakfasts at Phillips, but sadly never a lunch or a dinner. As I recall, I don't remember anything negative about any of my experiences save for one where I got soaked running from the car to the door, due to a wicked and sudden downpour. I do remember my waitress that morning telling me that they weren't closing anytime soon, that I should have waited in the car for the 2 minutes it took for the downpour to pass by. Everyone had a chuckle at me dripping wet. Anyways, as I remember, the breakfast food was always fine, the service was stellar, prices quite reasonable, and the place was clean and comfortable each time I was there. Although I have passed through Ogdensburg a few times since 1989, it has always been in the truck, with a destination to get to. I figured that it wouldn't be a great idea to try to park 75 feet of tractor-trailer out front while I ate a meal. I hope to be able to get in sometime again (in a car) soon, to see what has changed...
Read morePhillips Diner has been in business for 70 years so by now they know what they are doing. I have been to Phillips Diner numerous times and the food has been great every time. The prices are comparable with others in the area if not even cheaper. I went with a person for Boston Ma. area and he ordered breakfast at lunch time ( can be ordered any time) and said his meal was delicious. I had the fish special for lunch and it to was good and filling. With 2 hot teas and both our meals it came in under $ 20. Cant hardly beat that at fast food places. There are large booths for a big group or tables for one to four. Or you can sit at the counter. The waitress was prompt, friendly and took our orders with no mistakes. Even at lunch time and the place busy we didn't have to wait long for service or our order. When you walk in you may be tempted to run because the place is dated and in need of upgrades and repairs. Thats about the only reason it didnt get 5 stars. It has free parking on site and it is...
