We camp at Gilbert Lake State Park every year - about 20 of us, and we normally like to get pizzas the first night we are there. We try different places to see which we like best. I did a bunch of research before we went, as I know we have no service IN the park, and decided on Nick's for this year. (where we live, sheet pizzas are offered at every pizza joint, but it's not as much a "thing" down this way we found) I found Nick's online and saw they did indeed offer sheet pizzas which was awesome. We designated one of us to be the one to go into town to get the order going and then go pick up. Half hour later, when we assumes our pizzas were being made already, the bearer of bad news returned, saying he called and the person who took his order said they don't DO sheet pizzas. Well, they CAN but you need to order a day in advance. We would have happily done that had the website made any mention of it, but it doesn't. Then with 20-some hungry people, we had to try to make a fast call on how many larges would be close to the same, and without internet to help us, of course! We probably overguessed, but in the past we've found that 18" pizzas aren't quite 18", so we rounded up and did 7 instead just to be safe. The person had to go back into town to call and order and returned with the pizzas hours after he initially left to order - and instead of ~$120, we spent almost $190. The pizza itself was pretty good, but 6 out of 7 definitely had extra dark areas on the underside that would by most people be considered burnt. I personally thought the flavor and sauce and cheese etc was good on the parts that weren't overcooked, though! I think they weren't super happy about 7 larges on a Sunday evening by the sound of it, but we had to make an audible. The leftovers didn't get eaten, unfortunately - and buzzed adults in the group will usually eat most anything around the campfire, so that's a definite first. Bottom line- maybe people down that way don't order sheet size often, but it would be great to make a note on the website that sheets can only be ordered the day ahead just to save someone else the same hassle. And I think overall the pizzas are probably good and maybe being devil's advocate ours were burnt only bc there were 7 of them and either they were busy or annoyed about that.

Portion size is CRAZY huge, but for the price, it should be. Especially for a college town/college kids...wow is it expensive. Their menu is siper extensive!! Had their fried mushrooms w/marinara sauce. Mushrooms were typical & sauce was thick & tasty. Thought marinara was a weird choice, though & not ranch. Was told their wings are amazing, so I tried them. They were pretty good. Some of the skins weren't super crispy, but you got a whole chicken coop of them! 😆 Sauce was tangy & kinda sweet; although, I have to say, The Depot Restaurant across town, I reviewed before, has much better wings. Open faced turkey dinner was a bummer - it lacked seasoning, was drowning in gravy & the bread/toast was super burnt. The mashed potatoes were kind of thick & seasonal veggies were mushy but had a nice buttery garlic sauce on them. Tiramisu was excellent. I just wish the slice was bigger, like the rest of the food. Staff was super friendly (Michelle) & service was great. Asked for one to-go box (again, sooo much food!) & Michelle brought 3 b/c she guessed we'd need more & we did!!! Smart 😀 I'd like to try the pizza next time I'm in town.

While visiting our granddaughter at SUNY Oneonta, we had the opportunity to have lunch at Nick’s Diner. We weee seated immediately in a bright and sunny restaurant. Our server Jen was very pleasant, courteous and attentive. I ordered chicken/bacon ranch hoagie served with fries. It was delicious. The only drawback I may point out is the parking. The location of the Diner makes it difficult to exit the parking lot without backing into the roadway traffic on a blind curve. A 4-star rating is primarily based on the current practice of charging nearly 4% credit card usage. I realize this is getting to be a common practice among small businesses. Nevertheless, most restaurant dining guests are not carrying large sums of cash. To attract future clientele, the restaurant should absorb this cost. Otherwise I recommend the Diner.

The service is SUPER SLOW!!! Don't go if you dont have at least 2 hours to waste waiting around to be ignored for a period of time and then eventually waited on and served low quality dog food. When we arrived, there were 5 tables full of dirty dishes from previous customers, staff standing at the counter, and a couple others standing talking to one another (three people seemed to actually be working). There's no sign to indicate that you seat yourself, which didn't seem to matter because even after the waitress showed us to a super small (yet clean) table, we didnt get asked if we wanted drinks for approximately 12 minutes. While we waited for our drinks for an additional 8 minutes, another server came over and asked if we ordered our food, to which we stated no. She also inquired about our drinks, and we looked at our timer and told her we ordered our drinks 8 minutes earlier (2 hot teas and 2 waters). She appoligized for her co-worker and went and got our drinks (only took her 2 minutes). She then took our orders and submitted them to the kitchen... In the mean time, servers were giving discounts on checks all around us. Other customers started telling us abiut their experience and how terrible it was for them as well as the chaos there seems to be.... 27 minutes later our waitress brought our food out and it looked half way decent... Looks, however, can be deceiving!!!! The frozen vegetables they boiled tasted like sea water, the gravy tasted like staight salt (no flavor at all), the meat was rubbery, the instant mashed potatoes had some kind of garnish in it, but wasnt fooling anyone, the burger was overcooked, the lettuce and tomatoes for the burgers were less than stellar, and the fries were worse than stale fries from McDonald's. The waitress came over and inquired about how things were going, to which we told her it was less than good. She gave us the option to order different meals, to which we asked her what she suggested. She suggested a burger that was dressed with fried onions, barbecue sause and lettuce... We told her we wanted to taste quality food, not just the condiments... Needless to say, our waitress got a tip much larger than the bill... Her kindness and good attitude were 100% better than the food.

Save yourself the time and money and drive down the road to the Chinese buffet... Their food is much better and cheaper! And if you dont like Chinese there's Dante's pizza, a Gyro spot, Daddy Als that has some amazing subs, The Undercover Eggplant Company and a few fast...

Monday was my first and probably last time that I will be going to Nick's Diner. If you have food allergies do not come here because they don't care, even when they say they do. And the food was not good. Also, after I posted a very similar review on Yelp, a "regular" whom's only review was for Nick's diner, commented back on my review and said that I was a liar and that 45 minutes isn't a long enough time to expect a hamburger! And all of the bad reviews they get on facebook, they delete.

My coworker and I decided to try it out for lunch as we work right down the street and we were excited to try it. We have 30 minutes for lunch. We get there and decide that we would order our food, run some errands and come back and pick it up so we made it back to the office in time. There was maybe 2 tables there when we got there. We get there, I explain that I have food allergies and I could not have a bun or cheese on my burger, I asked if it was possible to get it on a lettuce instead. The waitress, who wasn't super pleasant, she seemed as if she didnt want to be there, said that that wasn't a problem, I also said I couldn't have the fries because they were done in a shared fryer. My coworker ordered a chicken wrap with limited toppings and a piece of cake. She told us it would be about 20 minutes. We get back 20 minutes later and the food is still not done, so a wrap and a burger, ended up taking 40ish minutes to make. As I was waiting, the cook puts up my burger on the window, were you can see into the kitchen. There was a bun on my burger, someone told him that it was supposed to be bunless. So he took the bun off and threw it away and gave me the same burger. At this point I didn't want to make a scene so I didnt say anything as I was already late getting back to work and couldn't wait for a new one to be made. We get back to the office and my coworker had toppings on her wrap that she specifically asked not to be on it along with it had only one super tiny piece of chicken in it, and her cake was chewy and she didn't eat either things. I decided even though I shouldn't that I would try a tiny bite of my burger to see if it was at least good. It was not. It was over cooked and dry but somehow was also the most greasy burger I've probably ever had. So together my coworker and I spent $32 here and we didn't even eat lunch.

Neither of us are impressed at all. The only reason we are giving it one star is because the diner itself is very...
