Honestly, it’s a 3.25 but that’s not an option so I went with a 3. I’ll start with the food. The oysters were very tasty - 5/5 on those. The salad was good but not spectacular if a bit overpriced, so I’ll go with a 3.5. The bread was the garlic Tuscan bread, which everyone knows is delightful. I’d read in reviews before going that the bread is super good, so I was confused when we weren’t offered any. I had to ask and then they gave us…2 super thin slices cut in half. It was weird. Garlic Tuscan bread - 5/5 always. The serving of it and needing to ask to even get that? 1/5. The pizza was fine. It tasted exactly the same as the customizable pizzas that you can get at the to-go area of Wegmans. The up-charge in the restaurant wasn’t worth it. We expected something at least a little better than they sell at the pizza counter. 2.5/5. The mushroom pasta with cream sauce was delicious! 5/5. If there was a reason I’d go back, it’s this dish.
On to the service: We reserved a spot in the bar area as it was a last minute reservation. It’s a weird spot because you can see the food court area in Wegmans super nearby which is a little odd, but no big deal. We asked the person who seated us if there might be a low top available but there wasn’t. No problem at all, I totally understand and know where I booked, so all was well. When he seated us he said “while we don’t have a table in the back, our service is excellent in the bar area.” Unfortunately, that wasn’t really accurate. At most times the bartender had one person at the bar, another group at a high top table, and had to get drinks for the rest of the place. The lack of great service definitely wasn’t her fault as she had no help. Now, if this was a case of being short-staffed like lots of places are right now, I wouldn’t even be mentioning it. However, throughout most of our meal there were 2-4 employees hanging out at the podium by the front door chatting and laughing. Again, totally cool but no one was helping the bartender who was buried. When we were looking around to ask for drinks, bread, etc., they’d look at us and go back to talking. I’m pretty sure at least one was a manager. One was the guy who told us what excellent service they had. We spent a lot of the meal needing water refilled, another drink, etc. and feeling bad about having to get the attention of the bartender. Why is the service section so long? Wegmans prides itself of excellent customer service and this totally missed the mark. When I was deciding whether to go with a 3 or 4, I went 3 due to this. It’s one thing to not have enough folks at work to keep up. It’s another to let a co-worker get buried while you hang out and ignore them and the customers...
Read moreJust left this restaurant with a terrible experience. First of all, we sat in the lounge area at a very nice high top. The bar was full, and every high top was full and all trying to be serviced by the lone bartender. Now she is supplying all the restaurant's drink orders and trying to serve dinners to over 26 patrons in her area also. How do you think that experience was? With all the responsibility she had, she stayed very calm and did the best she could with no management or help coming to her aid! I ordered the special, Crispy Cod. It came with a tablespoon of AWFUL cole slaw and shoestring fries which were pretty tasty. We asked for catsup and were brought a thimble cup to share between the two of us, completely ridiculous. Now to the main course, the Crispy Cod. It was TERRIBLE. It was the consistency of mashed potatoes that was breaded. Total Mush ! Something was wrong with this fish. Frozen and thawed and left to sit in a liquid, who knows but the chef ! I tried two small tastes and asked our waitress to remove it. she apologized and offered another dish, but I declined. Never did management or the chef come to our table to enquire. I paid my bill and left and never will be back. Shame on Wegmans for allowing this to happen not only with sub-par management but with terrible food quality. I can see why your online rating is poor !!!!! PS 4days later just had a call from the manager of Amore apologizing and defending her quality of food. She explained to me she personally trains all her staff and they all try to please. Did not take responsibility or tell what she did to rectify this poor experience. She did offer me a free drink if I would come back for another experience. I...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I decided to come to Amore for our Valentine’s Day dinner and were honestly quite disappointed. his parents are regulars and he said it’s always been good so we had a high expectations. We were seated in the bar area, which is where we had our reservation and we ordered two salads and a pizza as starters. The bartender who was also our server, then asked us if we wanted bread with our food “since we were already getting pizza” which I thought was kind of weird since bread comes with the meal. Our appetizers were good, but we then sat there for over an hour waiting for our entrées. The people sitting next to us came in after and received their entrées before us, and after a while, the bartender noticed that we didn’t have food and offered to go check on it for us. She came back and said that they were plating it up, but at that point we had been sitting there for about an hour and 30 minutes. When they finally did bring us the food the server who brought it over, kind of just tossed it on the table and didn’t give us silverware, and didn’t even take away our other plates that had been sitting there for over an hour. The lasagna was good. I found the gnocchi with truffle sauce to be way too oily. There was no resolution offered for our extended wait time which I found very disappointing, especially since there’s absolutely no reason why we needed to wait an hour for our entrées after our appetizers. They honestly weren’t even busy. We had plans after dinner, but we’re not able to do them because of the extended wait. This was also our Valentines dinner so we were very disappointed, especially considering our...
