I had The Arnette Cafe cater an event for my husbands suprise birthday party, It was not a good experience at all. I should have known though....everytime I had to contact them it would take weeks for them to get back to me or I would call and get promised a call back and never hear from them....the day of the event came and I received raw chicken, burnt macaroni and cheese and a rice that I did not order.
I went into the Cafe and met with him to advise of what I felt and was told that he would get back to me. I received a call several days later stating that there is nothing that they could do for me REALLY...... So I went onto social media to advise of the experience.
Since I posted the pictures and this review (2 week time frame)....I received a e:mail stating that they can offer me $50.00. Which was totally unacceptable. I replied and asked them to allow me to speak with them and there was no reply at all. I sent a total of 3 emails requesting a response....so finally I went to the Diner this is now almost a month to the date....He at this point said that since I posted the review and refuse to take what they thought was fair, they had gone cold and wasn't going to respond.
After this conversation he stated to me that he would follow up with me on the following Wednesday...I received no call so I texted and received a call the next day asking me to come up with a price that I think is fair and he would call me back the following day.....I guess you know...I did not receive a call, so again I texted....and I received a response that he would get back to me tomorrow due to he was on an outting....OK.
So he called the follow day after I texted him to remind him that I was awaiting his call, I advised him that I though $150.00 was fair of the $395.00 I spent....Mind you there was only one other dish that I received that was anything that was worth being paid for...but I was told that he was not going to do no more than $125.00. So why did I have to wait another whole week calling and waiting on a call from you if you already knew it wasn't up to me to come up with what I THOUGHT WAS FAIR.
So NO I am not satisfied with the resolution but please beware and choose another restaurant for your...
Read moreThe Arnett Cafe is the best kept secret breakfast place in Rochester. Southern style food with great service. Sundays get pretty busy and the wait can get long, but the food is cheap and the staff is really, very friendly. I get the veggie omelette week after week, though they are known for the southern food, shrimp and grits and chicken and waffles. Also, while some disdain the humble diced and seared potato I have not found a diner in the city which has as consistently good home fries. I've only ever been disappointed in waiting for food on a busy Sunday, otherwise the Arnett Cafe has been consistently good month after month. Only a breakfast and lunch place, though they are now (summer of 2016) serving at the West Side Farmer's Market on Tuesday evening. I have met the owner who sometimes works the dining room and, no joke, been literally embraced by him on a busy Sunday morning. If you're living in the 19th Ward or want to try a new place for breakfast, you won't do better than the...
Read moreI wish I could give this place no stars. I asked for grits with cheese on it, why they brought my grits out with the cheese mix in the grits, cold and dry looking. When I tell you my grits were stiff. I asked for Haddock she opens up my to go box and was like here's your catfish. Ma'am I didn't order catfish. The fish was so small. I could have gone to Mitch's on main st where they have to tear a hole in the box just for the fish to fit. My sister order was jacked up. The person who took our order was ditzy she kept coming out with the wrong stuff, forgetting stuff. Put my orange juice in a coffee cup. This was my first time going to this establishment and I thought to myself let me have breakfast at a African American restaurant you no support our people. Then you wonder why we don't support black businesses and go else where to get better service and better quality of food. Won't be returning. It's a 1 and...
