Atmosphere is great. Service is…. Meh. The food and menu needs work. -The latkes needed salt and seasoning, they lacked flavor. The horseradish cream on the latkes was lacking the horseradish. -the Chicago dog: the relish needs to be improved. There should be diced tomatoes, the sliced ones were inedible. The bun was tasty. This wasn’t my favorite but I’d eat it. -the chickpea panzanella salad needs diced tomatoes. The croutons are WAY too big, those should be smaller. -the nugget things were terrible. Those need the most work. Are they baked? Pan cooked? They are way too mushy. The chef should go to a bunch of vegan spots and study their nuggets. I wouldn’t order these again. I’ll come here for drinks but might hold off on food! I’d come here for drinks but it’s also really overpriced. Location is okay and there is some parking.

This place is great. As soon as I walked into this wonderful bar restaurant I was greeted with the masterful works of Bob Ross and classic kung fu / samurai movies on the TV. I ordered a Genny light and enjoyed an evening with friends ( they also have amazing cocktails I sampled from friends). The atmosphere was super cool I loved the decor and the bathrooms were nice and clean. After a few cocktails and beers my beautiful girlfriend and I ordered food. We ordered 2 smash burgers (one Fancy style and it was the best burger I've had my whole life in Rochester) Buffalo style wings(also fire (great)) and a latke all were amazing. I've been wanting to go here for a while and it definitely didn't disappoint! Will definitely be coming back

We live around the corner so we were thrilled to see Jack Ryan's rise from the ashes and become Jack's Extra Fancy. Stopped in for drinks and a bite - the beef short rib was amazing. At almost 40 bucks we hesitated, but it was enough for more than one person (though he polished it off with zest lol). Atmosphere is awesome, music playing but not so loud that you can't hear your friends, service staff is top notch - attentive without being hovery. Smashburger and fries were also delicious. Vibe seems to be an upscale version of a dive bar - like they have PBR based cocktails, Genny, Miller High Life, etc., but they're not just serving them, they're also using them in bougie cocktails. Overall, clean, pretty, relaxed - we'll be back!

This was my first time at Jack's Extra Fancy, I was in town from Buffalo to visit my friends for the night.

The Good: My drinks were excellent and tasty, and the bartender was very friendly and kind. All of the staff was very good and the service was great! They also have the atmosphere and aesthetic nailed down. The vibes were very good, and it is a very cute and fun place to stop for a drink. Decor was on point. Of the food, the latkes were very good and a unique item, my husband got the Caeser salad loaded latkes and it was the best food we had of the night.

The Not So Good: The tap water low-key tasted like pool water, it had a slight chlorine and soap taste. This may not necessarily be a Jack's problem and might just be a Rochester tap water situation, so I can't particularly hold it against them. The rest of the food left something to be desired. I can see the vision with the menu, and the cooking techniques LOOKED good. Great crisp on my smash burger, the breading on the popcorn chicken looked good. However everything was SO SALTY, with multiple people at the table agreeing their food was too salty and this coupled with the the pool flavored tap water was not the best experience. It was really hard to taste much of anything else going on with our dishes because the salt just really blew out your palette.

Overall: Great spot for drinks and vibes, and I thought the service was very good. Would I eat here again? Maybe. It might have just been an off night in the kitchen with the...
