Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in City of Utica

STAY AWAY 2 adults 2 children around 6:30pm on a Friday night. The moment we walked in and the hostess was confused as to which tables were clean vs dirty should have been the first warning sign to stay away. We are understanding people so we let her clean what needed to be cleaned and sat. We ordered 2 of the featured Lemonades, one regular, the other blue…neither had much flavor…it happens….. next we ordered Southern Comfort to drink. It took 15 minutes for the waitress to get them from the bar, she said another twble had ordered 6 milkshakes that the bar tender had to make….really? Milkshakes no one could help her, anyway It wasn’t southern comfort. Someone is switching your bottles or making their own concoctions, or adding a cheaper liquor to a more expensive bottle to make a profit on their own….this was not SOCO by any means it they even poured it in front of us and had us try it….nope not it….yall should really check that out before there’s a larger problem with it than some random person giving a review….they let animals in, personal pets, not an ADA service dog, but good old Sally was able to bring her lap dog who begs for scraps and WALKED IT AROUND THE RESTAURANT. So up to this point the alcohol was bad, the lemonade was tasteless, there’s dogs roaming the aisles and I ordered the Sirloin medium rare, it came out black and blue…. Still cold on the inside…..I didn’t want to send it back at this point I was done. My significant other ordered the pretzel appetizer. He adds salt to everything…they were too salty for him! They have the regular larger white pretzel salt plus good old table salt on them. You could feel the grittiness of the fine table salt on them…..nothing went right the waitress was pleasant, but after all the complaints not one manager came to speak with us….just wanted to give an honest assessment of why...

Hadn’t been to an Applebees in sometime and had seen a promo online so decided to stop for late lunch. Figured could catch the UFL game on ABC and try the promo. This location cannot pick up any ABC channel. Sat at the bar which turned out to be a huge mistake! The bartender was deep into a conversation with a couple who appeared to be regulars. She went on to complain about the company. They didn’t listen to her apparently and from the attitude she sure knew it all. From there as I waited for her to ask me if I wanted to order anything she want on to complain about being sick, kids and life in general. Actually was finally served by came to find out the GM. The food arrived and to be honest the chicken tenders were alright. The buffalo sauce I really enjoyed and fries were ok. The portion size was 5 smaller tenders and some fries and coleslaw. The bartender disappeared for about 15 minutes and the GM asked if I wanted another order. I was given an option to change to rib thingy or shrimp. I went with the tenders again and received 3 tenders, they were the same size as first order. When the bartender finally showed up I ordered another drink. The GM and bartender had a conversation about the regular customer ( the couple ) about only having one drink and leaving. I thought of course they left why would you want to pay to listen to someone whine! The bartender asked me if I wanted anything else and I thought I would try the shrimp. Tried them and they were disgusting but worse was the hair socked in grease under the fries. I almost puked so disgusted I was done. Called over the GM and was really disappointed by his lack of concern. I guess it must happen here quite often. Bottom line I will never be going back to an Applebees! My 1 star rating is based on service and...

I've never seen such slow service. Priscilla was our waitress. She was friendly, but extremely slow.

We were seated quickly, but then waited probably 10 minutes for our drink order to be taken. By the time the drink order was taken, we were ready to order everything, so we did it all at once. The food took probably close to 45 minutes to arrive.

We were never offered drink refills, so when she brought our food out I asked for one, and my son asked for vinegar for his fish at thr same time. Neither one of those items ever came. Both tables on either side of us were also complaining about the insanely slow service. After being seated, and waiting an eternity, one woman actually got up and walked to the bar to put in her own drink order. The bartender then came and took their order, since there was little chance Priscilla would be doing it any time soon.

After asking for the check, we waited probably 10 more minutes just to get that.

The food was ok. Not great, but not terrible either. It was acceptable in quality and it did come out hot, which we were shocked by.

We were traveling through and had decoded to stop at Applebee's for a reasonable meal. The stop ended up taking just under two hours. With not a single drink refill.

I'm sure Priscilla is awesome at a lot of things, but waitressing isn't one of them. Her manager has failed her, by allowing her to be as slow as she is. Give her the training she needs, to improve. Otherwise, both she and the restaurant will continue...
