I am not the kind of person to leave bad reviews for small businesses; however, after trying this place twice, I feel that other customers need to know what to expect. I was excited to have a Latin restaurant nearby, but my experience has been disappointing. First, the photos posted here do not match the food served by the restaurant. My first order was placed late in the afternoon and thought that perhaps they had closed the kitchen and were running low on food. I decided to give them a second chance, but I had the exact same experience again. I’m all for paying a fair price for good food, but in this case, I truly felt cheated. The portions were disappointingly small for the high prices. For example, the carne guisada came with only 6 or 7 tiny cubes of meat, a couple of pieces of potato, and a slice of carrot. It hardly felt like a meal. As for the meat empanadas, they were more like potato-filled pastries, containing less than one-third meat, with the rest mostly being smashed potato filling. I could barely taste any meat at all. The churros were okay. I paid more than $100, and we were still hungry, even though we don’t eat much. Overall, the quality and quantity just don’t match what they charge. It’s not worth it, and I won’t be...
Read moreMy friend and I stopped in for a late lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. We’d heard a buzz about this new Central American restaurant and we were eager to try the cuisine. We decided to share an appetizer, which was a wise decision, because the portion was too big for one person. We had pupusas: three large griddle cakes stuffed with cheese. They came with a side salad of onions, carrots and peppers. For my entree, I chose pollo asado, a thin grilled chicken breast, accompanied by a heap of white rice and some beans. My friend ordered the Montanero platter. This contained an insane amount of food: steak with a fried egg, chicharron (pork belly), rice and beans. Everything was nicely seasoned. We needed to get a box to take home the food we couldn’t finish. Service was friendly. My only complaint is that they brought the entrees out too quickly, after we were barely halfway through our appetizers. We will...
Read moreI was approached by a women at frostys about a restaurant opening down the street. She gave me a small flyer and a coupon for 10% off my meal. So on their opening day I went in for lunch. I went in around 40 minutes early and left but, came back after a short stent in my truck to find I was their first customer. The waiter was excellent from the beginning, he gave great recommendations as I was new to Cuban food. He recommended tostones as a appetizer which might of been my favorite part of my experience. He then recommend a plate with tons of different things that was good but, very filling. The pork was to die for but, the steak was not perfect. I ckalked it up to being a cultural difference on how they cooked it. As it was just thin and we'll cooked. Everything else tasted authentic and refreshing. All in all a great addition to Watertown's repertoire of...
