Where is the six star option? This is the best Mexican I have ever had in the DC area, and probably on the East coast. As good as the best Southern California places I used to visit. The tacos were amazing – the meat was perfectly seasoned and charred, and the corn tortillas were fresh and had a slightly crisp edge. The birria was flavorful and perfectly done. The cabeza (beef cheek) had the best combination of fattiness and char. The carnitas (pork) had tons of flavor and had a fried crispiness. The lengua (beef tongue) was grilled to perfection without being tough. As a surprise bonus, each taco plate is served with a big fat grilled jalapeno pepper, and a charred scallion to add a kick to the dish. Do not skip the salsa bar, which is covered and chilled to keep fresh the salsa verde (plain and spicy), serrano pepper sauce, habanero sauce, onions, and other condiments. While other places charge extra for these, you get them all and you can pack them to go. The guacamole as a starter was excellent, with a perfect blend of tomato, onion, and cilantro most others don't get right with the avocado. Drive past all the other places along route 270 that people (including myself) used to say were the best, and try something on whole another level.

Hands down some of the best food I've had in a while. The food is delicious and so well-priced! I love the condiment bar with fresh cucumbers and cilantro and different types of sauces. The food came out quickly, tasted so good (had the chicken quesadilla) and the super sweet woman behind the counter recommended an Agua Fresca (Pina) that was phenomenal. I was expecting a tiny drink for it only being like $4 but it was a full 32oz - crazy value! This place needs to be recognized!! Definitely needs some better signage outside because had we not been looking for some water bottles post-hiking at Sugarloaf, we never would have known it was there. This is why we always try out the small local businesses!!! Will 100% be coming again next time I hike Sugarloaf.

This restaurant is a gem! The food was made fresh to order, extremely flavorful, and a great value! Reminds me of the more authentic places you often find on the west coast and southwest. It was very clean and organized inside, including the restroom. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. The gentleman running the restaurant, Jose, takes great pride in the food, and it shows! La Mesa will be a regular stop for us. Can’t wait to try the rest of the menu.

We ordered takeout so we aren't rating atmosphere as it doesn't apply here.

That said, the steak burrito is very good and massive.... I couldn't finish but half and will finish for lunch or another dinner. I would imagine that the chicken burrito is the same size.

Fajita bowl excellent and large portions here too, bang bang shrimp tasty, Chicken Wings just average but as this place is supposed to be authentic Mexican we didn't expect anything but average on wings. Birria and carnitas good too.

I also ordered steak fries which ended up being just regular bland fries although their menu said steak fries with toppings but I could have ordered the wrong item. No matter....was just trying multiple items and as fries aren't authentic Mexican not a big deal. We like trying wings and fries at different places but that's sort of a side thing that we won't penalize restaurants for ....

Overall.... will definitely reorder other items....solid local Clarksburg food place. Right next to Carmen's Italian ice too ;-) I hope...
