I ordered a family dinner of the small lasagna with salad and bread. When I stated what I wanted I was told the bread and salad came with the meal. I ordered a small pan of lasagna with salad and bread and a quart of meatballs for my son. The pan of lasagna, in my opinion, was appropriately priced at $40. The quart of meatballs n sauce for $7 accurate as well. I paid $6 for a loaf of bread and $32 dollars for the small family salad!!! When I stopped to pick up we waited for someone to come to the register for almost 20 mins when there were literally 3 cars in the whole parking lot. My young child was ready to go so I just her my name and didn’t even think to look at what I paid or what I received. I was shocked to open a pan of lettuce with maybe a half of a tomato diced on top of it for $32. That is insane. I called to question the cost and could not get a real answer and was asked if I wanted to come in for another salad. Tell me how a pan of lettuce with half a tomato diced is only $8 less than a small pan of lasagna. I also checked the menu and could not find the price for this order anywhere on it.

We were excited to go to a real Italian restaurant. Soon we all were pretty disappointed. I am not sure with what to start, but I wish I would have read the other reviews before we came here to spend a lot of money. I ordered shrimp scampi which says on the menu it comes with salad, bread, pasta with broccoli and shrimp. The shrimp was extremely small, the bread was not fresh or Italian, the broccoli was completely omitted. When we stopped at the gas station store close to the restaurant we saw exactly that same bread. When I asked about the broccoli I was told that I didn’t say it…well if it’s in the menu then I want it unless I specifically say I do not want it. They offered to cook the broccoli but didn’t mention about any discount. I don’t want to take just broccoli without the whole meal…it’s not the same. The portion sizes are pretty small. We had a kids Alfredo pasta and an adult Alfredo pasta…exactly same size but priced very differently: 9 and 16. This is not a respectable Italian restaurant and the whole family was pretty disappointed. The food was mediocre over all.

A generational staple in this area. The restaurant has lots of character with multiple rooms each decorated tastefully in an old school manner. We ate there for dinner on father's day and the staff appeared like they were very busy. Spaghetti was the primary staple dish. The staff though busy we're all very friendly. Prices were very reasonable with a highly competitive pricing for the children's menu with pricing based on a child's age. The spaghetti tasted good, the sauce was okay not too acidic and not too sweet but the spaghetti was drowning in the sauce. The meatballs though good were very bland. The spaghetti had dry spots on it as though it we're sitting out before having the sauce poured on it. I wonder if they precook the spaghetti and then didn't soak it enough in hot water before serving. The salad was okay but all iceburg and only sliced tomatoes. The salad appeared fresh.

If I could give a 5 star negative review I would!

Our family decided to try them out today for Mother's Day. We hadn't been there in a while so we thought we could give them a try. We called in days before and reserved a time for our party. We arrived and waited in the "tiny" less than welcoming lobby area for 20 minutes (mind you we had a reservation). There was no hostess, the front of the house staff (when we saw them) were RUDE and yelled at each other. The poor guy behind the counter was running everywhere and tried his best. Other staff.... Very unprofessional and made guests clearly uncomfortable. People were waiting a VERY long time for take out orders....it was truly a nightmare (before we even got seated).

We are taken to our table, which should have been ready... keep in mind...there were only three other parties in the entire restaurant. We waited another 10-15 minutes just for a waitstaff to come to our table to even greet us and take our drink orders. When the waitress did arrive she was rude, had no idea what the price of anything was on the "limited menu". We had to ask for silverware. Had to ask for bread. We didn't even have water placed on our table. Knowing you had a party coming in - this should have all been at each place setting. The waitress was awful. Waited another 15 minutes just to ask for refills. Salads arrived after our meals. The waitstress never came back to check on us. When we asked for our bills she said I gave them to you. Clearly she did not-she said she gave them to another table! The man operating the buffet seemed a bit "high" and without a hairnet (and he needed one) and he needed a shower. He insisted on spooning out the dishes and I didn't want him to touch my food. The food was bland and awful. We should have gotten up and left and not given them our business. But being a holiday and celebrating with 4 mothers it would have been difficult to find a restaurant that would have accompanied us. It was a terrible experience. For what should have been a nice relaxing days for 4 wonderful mothers turned out to be a nightmare!

From the front of the house to the back of the house and from management themselves! Rude and not a bit of professionalism or mannerism whatsoever. If you are coming to the area - I highly recommend trying another restaurant that appreciates your business, treats you with respect and where the food isn't outdated and you actually get waited on.

Will...

I am making the review with deep sadness and I hope that someone is paying attention and cares enough to really hear what I am expressing. I am in my 50’s and when I say I was raised on Minards I am sincere. My mother was a seamstress and sewed for the original owners making the restaurants tablecloths, napkins, aprons and whatever else they asked for. When they would come to the house to pick up their sewing they always brought food with them. It was the best….. As an adult all of the family celebrations were held there and the restaurant was always the go-to for Italian food. I have since moved away from Clarksburg but when I come home or I a even coming close. Minards is still on the go-to list. I came to town yesterday and got Minards for dinner. When I picked up the order it weighed nothing and in my mind it should of been a lot heavier.I was actually worried that everything was not in the bags I ordered a meatball hoagie, ravioli-rigatoni combo, lg. salad, sides of mushrooms and fried peppers and another small side salad. The ravioli-rigatoni combo was the biggest disappointment, there were 4 small ravioli “4”. Once I took them out there was a small 1” meatball and about half a cup of rigatoni. For what I paid these portions are so upsetting. My side salad was about four bites of salad and the large salad only filled part of the container. The meatball hoagie had everything on it and was still mostly bread because the meatballs were so small and the toppings were so sparse. What has happened I am so saddened by these portions for the money. The amount of food might have made sense if it had come off of the kids menu. However it was off of the dinner menu. I know Covid has made times tough but the cut in portions is drastic. I wanted to make two meals out of mine which has never been a problem. The portions were always big enough that you couldn’t eat it all in one sitting, so you had your lunch for the next day. My husband had the hoagie and ended up moving all of the contents of his hoagie to one half of the bun and had a decent sandwich with the other half of the bun going to waste because there wasn’t anything to put in it. I hope that this is read by staff and considered with all sincerity. I have done this review only with good intentions and not out of malice. The taste was good and hasn’t changed....

The reason that I’m giving this three stars and not less is because of the history that I have had in the past with getting meals from here. I’ve never had a bad meal. I can honestly say that. After today, I’m not sure if I will be going back anytime soon because of the treatment we received from our waitress. When we first walked in, it took a while to even get someone to take our drink order. Now I realize that staffing issues plague everyone, so we were patient with that. My little girl currently has her hair dyed a very pretty pink color. When the waitress finally did come to take our order, my wife and I, as well as our daughter noticed that the waitress looked down over her glasses at her, in a very judge mental stare, and it made us all fairly uncomfortable. When she finally came back to take our orders, she was very short, very direct and rushed through everything as if almost to get away from us. She did not come back one time to offer us refills on our drinks, or to make sure that our food was up to par. However a waitress who was waiting on other tables around us did at least check on us and ask us if we wanted a refill on our drinks. When we were finished with our dinner, our waitress finally came over, handed us our check, and didn’t even ask if we wanted dessert or if everything was OK. She handed us our check we got up and walked out of the dining room, paid our bill, and left. We all felt really terrible about even having went there in the first place. I hope that this is a one time thing for this waitress and not a habit. But if it is, I’d definitely say the service or hospitality industry is...
