CHIPS ARE NOT FREE at la Chiquita. You buy one LARGE cheese dip and are ALLOWED 1 and a half baskets of chips. One full basket and the second basket is a half basket. Worst service I’ve ever experienced from ANY restaurant I’ve ever went to. We asked “okay, how much is it for another basket of chips?” The woman at La Chiquita had no answer and told my family and I that we were not to come back just because we asked how much extra it would be. Here at La Chiquita the older woman also appeared to be drunk. She was profiling us for having a baby and bringing him into a restaurant because he started to cry, being incredibly rude to us, and even gave us the wrong change after we paid. Before we even went to the counter at La Chiquita, to ask for more chips and pay for our food the woman had spoke in Spanish to the young gentleman with glasses and pointed at our table. Shortly after, the elderly gentle man, who also works there, walked up to the woman and they started speaking in Spanish and staring at our table while we were finishing and trying to soothe our crying baby. I have ate here many times before and she told me I eat here too much. It was like she was criticizing me for giving La Chiquita more money and business. I will NEVER eat at this place or give them my business again. If you go to this place, make sure you ask how many chips ahead of time that you’re allowed to have, make sure you get the correct amount of change. Ask for the total before you give her money because SHE WILL NOT give you the correct amount of change and will refuse to correct herself. After she had given me the change I asked her what the total was and she...
Read moreI have always loved eating here. The food is fantastic and the staff is very sweet. But tonight me and my friends came here to eat and here are my complaints. As soon as we walked in, the waitress that sat us down rolled her eyes at us. We ignored it, thinking she may just be having a rough night as it was quite busy. We sat down and she gave us our menus and took our drink orders and later our food order was taken by a different waitress. As we waited for our food, one of my friends accidentally spilled her drink so we did our best to clean it up so that staff wouldnt have too much to clean. They gave us paper towels and we thanked them. We got our food, and we were missing an order. We asked if we could get it and we thanked them for giving us what we ordered. Our waitress proceeded to give us dirty looks and would snatch our drinks and chip basket off of the table when she asked if we wanted refills. She continued to stare at us as we ate. We finished our food and grabbed ourselves to-go boxes because our waitress wouldn't talk to us. We went up front, paid for our meal, and went to leave until the lady at the register stopped us. She asked why we were being rude to her niece and we were very confused because her niece gave us dirty looks as soon as we walked in. I used to love this place but this experience has ruined our nights. I'm very sorry that her niece was having a bad night but she didn't have to take it out on the customers. We were very upset that we were accused of being rude when we were trying to be polite and understanding. Long story short, we did not leave a tip and we will not...
Read moreDisclaimer I moved here from Texas where we had some excellent Tex-Mex spots and I've had some incredible authentic Mexican food as well. This rating is disregarding those experiences and is considering the level of "Mexican" food that is local to this area.
In Clarksville, of the Mexican food places - which there are plenty - this is one of the top 3 spots next to La Michoacana and El Molcajete (I call El Mo's). The food quality is very good for what you're paying. Between El Mo's and La Chiquita, El Mo's is cheaper with better salsa, but La Chiquita's food is a bit better, overall. La Michoacana is closest to authentic Mexican food and I prefer La Michoacana myself, but I tend to go to El Mo's or La Chiquita more with my kids. At La Chiquita, I pretty much only order the fajitas or the Chile Colorado. Everything else I've tried has been just ok or I didn't like it at all (quesadillas I do not recommend, oddly enough). The service is consistently pretty attentive and quick. There's nothing really special about the ambiance. It's a local-to-the-region Mexican place and has a strong...
