El Puerto Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Clay Center

The cheese they use is absolutely delish! It is a white cheese, not the bright yellow stuff similar tex-mex places use. My meal was around $9 and included a taco, enchilada, rice and a chili relleno (which was an odd version but tasted good). My son tried the quesadilla supreme with beef and loved it... even though it had onions and tomatoes (which typically he wont touch). I am unsure what the third person in our group had as I was too busy eating! The salsa they serve with the free chips is great... one of my favorite from this type of restaurants... and they have a hot version that is even yummier upon request. I don't have a photo to add partially because I was in a rush and had a moment to get lunch. After passing this place multiple times. I finally had the time to stop and try it out.I had the taco salad which was basically a larger hardshell taco with a flat bottom. It contained ground beef with no seasoning, and basically a dish with no flavor. This was basically just a slightly larger taco and I am familiar with the fact that most Mexican cuisine does season the dish up a bit with the different sauces. But I'm not tearing this apart to put salt on the ground beef that had no flavor. I'm not negative towards this establishment for this I may try again the next time through. But but I will never have the taco salad again it was definitely the poorest version of this dish I have...

Got there early. Immediately after they opened at 11:00. Glad we went early. Very small parking lot, even though they had additional parking across a side street. Would have been a difficult walk for an older person walking with a cane. Food was good, Well proportions about priced right. Service was excellent. Food was very good. Daughter had carnitas, and I had a shredded beef burrito covered with cheese and guacamole. People started pouring in about 11:30-11:45, and the place was getting crowded. We were not rushed, and finished at out leisure. We left the restaurant about 12:05 p.m. Parking lot immediately adjacent to the front door was full and the additional parking was taking the overflow.
