My family has dined here pretty much my entire life. Every time I come to visit (I live 4.5 hours north near Fort Wayne) we would have breakfast or lunch or dinner with my entire family. This weekend I'm visiting my brother and other family, being nostalgic (my dad and grandparents are no longer living), my brother and I decided to take our children there to eat tonight.
It was utterly the worst service I've ever received. We arrived at 615 pm. We put our order in at 630. We ordered 1 extra large pizza, a small pizza and an order of their garlic cheese sticks. For a table of 7, this is not a large order. There were 3 tables of 2 people and another group of 12 in the restaurant. We didn't receive our pizzas until 7:47 pm. Our waitress did not check on us for more than 45 minutes while we waited for our food with 3 young children at the table. They forgot our cheese sticks, then told us they were being made. They brought out something that appeared to be a sub. Then they said it was being remade and would be on the house in return for us waiting so long and them getting it wrong. The manager then came out and gave me a 15% discount card to use on the next visit. When I went to pay I explained that I live 4.5 hours North of here and could I just use the discount now.
I was told if I used the discount card now I would be charged for the cheese sticks. So they added the cheese sticks and I saved a whole $3 on my bill. I am extremely disappointed in the service, in the rude response to what had already been a terrible experience. We will absolutely never be back, and every single family member and friend I have here will be told exactly what happened and how management and staff handled the situation. We were told our wait was due to the 12 top table (who already had their food when we came in) and a large number of take out orders. Given my 10 years in the food industry, I believe they forgot our order and then failed to provide quality customer service in response.
My dad was Jimmy Dale, my Aunt is Sheila Goff (Baker), and I know you know who they are. Unbelievable how you treat customers, especially when more than 3 generations of our family has supported your local small...
Read moreI've lived in this little town for about two years now, husband and I have ate at this place several times, enough to have a solid review. Diners are my favorite places to eat, especially little hole in the wall diners. Any small towners know what I mean by "little hole in the wall diners". Across Indiana we have no shortage of them, and they're the best food you will eat, and 9/10 times, for better prices than run of the mill restaraunts. This diner doesn't have "hole in the wall" country diner vibes to it, it's a bit fancier than that. Service / waiters / staff get a 10/10. Always very polite, great service. The food is a bit overpriced, and it just doesn't have that down home, skillet good and greasy(good grease, not nasty, old tasting grease), country style, hole in the wall, home-made by momma in the back, or old recipe taste to it. The food is good, it just don't have that small town diner taste to it, that you would hope that it would in a small town like this, and its a little on the expensive side like I...
Read moreI've been here too many times to count. Great food and staff, family owned, and daily specials. You can't go wrong here. With a very large menu and rural hometown cooking, this is a spot that is worth checking out always. Whether on your way through town, not feeling like cooking, or even for the less fortunateand low on cash(you'll know what I mean if you visit and look on the back wall behind the cashier) you will be fed well here. This family is great and always worth a stop. Try stopping by on a specialty day, whether racks of ribs, frog legs, or any other, always worth it. The only thing I wish they still did was breakfast (which they said, understandably((small town,)) didn't turn a profit.) If they just offered some basic Biscuits and Gravy, homefries, hashbrowns, omelets, something daily would be awesome, but hey, all can't be perfect. Check...
