Clayton Grill & Cafe — Restaurant in Clayton

We have eaten there on several occasions. Over the last year, the service turned really bad.a whole bunch of teens just standing around looking like deer in the headlights. So tonight there was a huge obese woman sitting at a table for 4 that could have seated a family of 5, she had already finished her meal but continued to occupy the table even before we were seated. Meanwhile, a family of 5 with a disabled youth asked for a table , the waiters just looked at them like they were from another planet. No one asked the huge woman if she were finished. This family just continued to wait in a very tiny area. While other customers were seated. This really made me angry. None of the ,loitering teens even began clearing seats. I had to get the attention of our zombie teen waitress to alert her that our meal had been Waiting on the counter. All any of them ever said was "sorry". Lame lame lame. The food is very good I'm going to miss getting catfish there but I won't miss the people...

My experience at the Clayton Café can be described as one of the worst small town Cafes I have ever stopped at in all of my years of truck driving. The people were completely rude and it took me over an hour to get a table (which I didn't get settling for a stool at the bench) only to get served a burnt couple of pieces of catfish on their "All you can eat Catfish" night. My cup stayed empty the greater portion of the night after asking multiple times for a refill from multiple servers. I was even more displeased with the oversized bill at the end that I reluctantly paid before leaving. I would recommend going the extra distance to Danville to get McDonald's which is how I ended my night. Good luck to everyone that tries to go to this...

I am very critical when we go out to eat. I am spending my hard earned money and expect to be treated as tho they appreciate my visiting their establishment. First thing, we were told to sit wherever but all the empty tables were dirty so we chose a table that we had to turn the chairs off the table to the floor. Then we had to ask for the table to be cleaned, which visibly upset the "waitress" when they take your order they don't write anything down so when she brought our drinks she thought she had them right. Luckily she did. We drove almost an hour to eat there as they were having a catfish special for lunch. The food was terrific, but the service and atmosphere was very lacking.
