We arrived and were told that the wait was 30 min, so we went to the bar to grab a drink. It’s Easter Sunday so we had no expectations because we live on the beach and most dining experiences are sub par on the beach, but wanted to try something new. We were seated within 15 min on the patio as requested. The ambience is so quaint and surprisingly romantic for an inter coastal experience. We decided to try the oysters which were extremely fresh, the crab cake and firecracker shrimp were above our expectations for the beach. Ceasar salad was crisp, fresh, salad dressing was great and we also ordered the featured lamb chops with potato wedges and sautéed spinach to share. Everything was so amazing! We were so surprised because it’s really hard to find quality food on the beach. We would like to say that there was a local guest sitting at the bar that was very loud, obnoxious, and cursing with young children. We brought it to our servers attention and he immediately, discreetly, and professionally handled the guest. The service by Max was immaculate! We watched the staff work together as a team to ensure all guests were taken care of. If you live in this area then you know great service and good food on the beach or intercoastal are hard to come by. I am a server myself and was so happy to find a place locally that provides quality food, good service and they care, especially on a holiday. It was extremely refreshing! We will definitely be back! Wow!! I can’t say enough about this place. My husband and I tried to get a table at a nearby restaurant that wasn’t going to have a table available for about 2.5 hours so we decided to take a walk and came across Backwater’s. I’m so glad the other place was packed, they did us a favor.

Allison our server gave us the best advice for food options, and with my gluten allergy I can honestly say it’s one of the first times I didn’t feel like I missed out on anything. For appetizer we had bacon wrapped scallops that were seasoned and cooked to perfection and I also had the onion soup (minus the bread). The onion soup was one of the best I’ve ever had. I had a petite sirloin (cut in house) because there famous Butter Blackened New York strip was way to big (14oz) but she ordered it seasoned the same way, with there made in house blackened seasoning, cooked medium rare in a 20 year old skillet dedicated for steak. (This steak put my all time favorite, go to, center cut filet to shame) WOW! WOW! WOW!!

The entire experience felt like we were visiting old friends, we even spoke with the general manager who was so down to earth and really gave us some in-site into this awesome family owned restaurant. He also told us they have two other restaurants near by which now I will have to try before heading back to Miami.

If you are in the Clearwater, FL area and want some truly amazing better than home cooked food, with service to match, then you must check them out.
