We are always on the search for a great hotdog (who isn’t?), we found Joe’s Takeout via Eric on Yelp (where else?). Oak Ridge to Clemmons is a 34 minute trek for us and some might say that’s too far to go for just a hotdog. But there’s nothing “just” about this place. We walked in and I immediately had food choice confusion because the special board had Fish and Chips. I’m a F&C fiend, but I stuck to my plan. We were greeted by a very engaging young woman in a bedazzled mask (so cute) and when she found out we were first timers, she proceeded to explain some of the burger terms on the menu. I was really glad she did!

Tennessee Technique = fried in a skillet OKC = Onions are mashed into the meat before cooking

She also said that Villa Grill on the front of the strip shop also owned Joe’s. She encouraged us to give them a try too.

I got the 1/4 lb smash burger and Hubs got the double. The bun was a soft artisan roll that had been buttered and grilled. The meat was truly smashed and was a perfect fit to the bun. A 1/2 lb-er seems like too much meat, but I’m telling you it looked fantastic! We ordered with cheese, mayo, mustard, tomato and lettuce. Let me stop here for a second. I don’t like that dark green frilly lettuce, which in my opinion, should be a garnish only. I like iceberg lettuce on my burger. I LOVE shredded iceberg and that’s what they use! The toppings were very fresh and crisp. The edges of the burger were uneven and crunchy, just like a smash burger should be. We added a little salt but that’s just our preference.

We both got the Home Chips and they were delicious! I don’t know what seasoning they used, salt for sure, maybe it was seasoned salt but there was also a little spicy kick to it. They were so good, you didn’t need any ranch, but they did offer some.

Hubs also got the Average Joe Dog. Again, the bun seemed an artisan variety with butter and grilled. The all beef 8” dog had a nice snap and was juicy. The chili was SLIGHTLY sweet and the coleslaw and minced onions were nice and crunchy. He gave me a bite and if we hadn’t already driven away, I would’ve gone back in for my own. He agreed it was so good he’d make the trip again.

We did not get drinks. Our total was about $23 plus tip. The health rating is a 97. All employees were wearing masks and hand sanitizer is available for customer use. I noticed that she was very good about using hand sanitizer before handling the boxes of food.

As an FYI the aroma of BBQ and brisket is very enticing. The ribs are available for dinner. When you smell good food from the parking lot, you know you’re going to have a great experience and happiness is...

Joe's Take Out is by far one of the best places off the beaten path. Convenient location near Tanglewood in Clemmons. My family and I got a whole lot more than we were expecting. Walking into the establishment you could smell the oh so goodness of the place. Brian and his staff were utmost professionals. Mr. Joe was also there and chatted with my wife and I. We ordered several items as we had never eaten here before. We wanted to try everything on the menu. We had the beef brisket, mouth watering at best in my opinion. The Ribs were fall off the bone and worth the extra time I had to wait. The custom burgers were equally great. The BBQ corn on the cob as well as the home made cornbread was absolutely amazing. You definitely get that "homecooked" feel at this place. The portions are most definitely worth the price. There is no dine in options although they had tables set up outside. For a place with such a small foot print this restaurant has a larger than life appeal. Everything here was served hot and fresh. My hat goes off to everyone here at Joe's Take Out. We will make this one of our local hot spots. The area has the usual chain type eating establishments but not a lot of options unless you want hot subs or chicken. if I could rate this place with 10 stars they would get that from me. No complaints here other than we wish you folks had opened years ago. Thank you everyone at Joe's Take Out for letting us become part of your family experience!!!!! See you all soon and Happy New Year to you all. Rob and...

My two best friends and I visited this establishment after one of them raved about how good it was. We went in and I ordered a salad which I was told they do not serve even though they are on the menu. I ended up getting a burger and my friends got a bbq sandwich, fried pickles, and another burger. The food was pretty tasty but unfortunately that was the only good thing about this restaurant.

We ended up sitting outside to eat our food which was quickly brought to us. The worker asked if we needed silverware, and she then brought those out. After the fried pickles came out we asked for ranch since there was no sauce. My friend's sandwich was dry so she asked for some additional bbq sauce. Feeling bad for making the worker come in and out, she went inside to grab the sauce. When she walked in all the workers and their friends were talking about how rude we were for making them run around getting silverware and napkins. My friend was extremely embarrassed as they were talking about her. We ended up not finishing our food and leaving. Unfortunately, we had an unpleasant experience and will not be returning. The food was not bad but it was extremely embarrassing to overhear the staff talking poorly of customers for asking...

Joe's Takeout in Clemmons, NC has mastered the art of delivering insanely good quality brisket in a takeout format. Now, let's talk about those baked beans. They're not just good; they're reminiscent of the ones your grandma used to make. And don't even get me started on the street corn; it's a flavor explosion in your mouth, absolutely delicious! The wings? Slamming. Every bite is packed with flavor and juicy In all honesty, I'm struggling to find anything negative to say about Joe's Takeout. No surprise they got 4.7 out of 5 stars on Google. This place is a hidden gem, a true culinary delight in the heart of North Carolina. In the immortal words of @mrchimetime, you absolutely have to check this place out. Trust me; it's one of the hands-down fire spots in NC. Joe's Takeout gets a stamp of approval from me.

First, yes you want to try this place. Second if you like Carolina Burgers. Joe's has one of the best. To take it to another level ask for their homemade spicy pickles and habanero sauce. While I knew it was there I think most people would like it. I'll be asking for more sauce next time. Don't forget to try their crispy potato wedges, yes crispy. Well I made it back. Great Carolina burger. Reminded them to amp up their homemade habenaro sauce, and WOW what a way to have a Carolina burger. Definitely check this place out.
