I crave shawarma and grape leaves from Levant Shawarma, who happened to be closed today. Sad as it was, I persevered, and went a 1/4 mile west to Damascus Gate.
Boy am I glad I did! This meal is just as good and maybe better. We can just say different flavors.
The chicken shawarma has a rich flavor profile. It’s perfect. It’s not dry. It’s not sloppy. It sits right in the sweet spot.
Grape leaves came warm with some of sour taste cooked out. I like the sour taste. I also like this. Again, different flavors. Different is good here. Almost felt like it had a beef stock flavor. Delicious!
The lady at the counter gave me a free tiramisu(YUM) for waiting. Not only would I wait, I’d make reservations for the food...
