At about 12:30 PM on Sunday, my wife's friend, my wife and I stopped by the Himalayan Restaurant. While they waited in the car, I ran in to see if they had any vegetarian, Himalayan food dishes. We had another place to stop before we ate lunch, but we hoped to come back later. We love Indian food, but had never tried Himalayan food and my wife wanted to try something new. It was lunch and they were having a buffet, which smelled wonderful (as well as the outside by the building).
After seeing that they had vegetarian food, that lunch lasted to three, and that they were open till 10:00 PM we took off to our next stop. At about 2:50 PM we arrived back. We thought lunch would be over, but we were still hungry for Indian/ Himalayan food.
After we arrived, the waiter recognized me and offered us a seat. The lunch dishes were still present, still looked warm and fresh and he stated we could still have lunch if we liked. My wife and her friend decided to try the buffet. The waiter walked them through the buffet, pointing out what was vegetarian, Himalayan, spicy, etc. I had a taste for a sweet lasse (yogurt with sugar and rose water), the chicken korma and some nan bread.
After starting, a gentleman came in, but was told the place had just closed. We were confused at first, but then it came to my attention that they were closed from 3:00 to 5:00 PM, reopening then for dinner till 10:00 PM. We apologized for our rudeness, but he was so kind and stated that it was better the food be used and he could see we really wanted to try the dishes.
It was a delicious meal. My wife can be hard to please, but she was delighted with all the dishes she tried. Our friend, who lives locally, will definitely be back with her friends. I highly recommend Himalayan Restaurant. The staff are wonderful and accommodating. Give the chicken korma and sweet lasse a try. You will...
Read moreI wish I could give 6 stars. This place is great. Food was fantastic and service was highly attentive without being over the top. I highly recommend this restaurant. I'm not Nepali, but it seemed very authentic.
This was our first visit here, and the server recommended some great Nepali dishes. He was genuinely helpful, polite, professional, and appreciated us making the trip.
We got a momo dish, and it was delicious. We also got chilli chicken and it was pretty spicy. Not for the faint of heart, but so flavorful. We also got naan, and it was some of the best naan I've ever had. (I eat a lot of Indian food).
To set some context, I really don't like going out to dinner. Service is generally subpar, wait times are long, food is ok but not great (usually not better than at home), expensive, forced tipping for the subpar service, and the list goes on. So, for me to give such a rave review means this place is super awesome. And reasonably priced.
It's about an hour from where I live, but it's worth the drive, and I will be...
Read moreThis restaurant is such a shame being a Nepali restaurant. On my first visit, we ordered momo. Waitress said we just have 10 pieces of vegetables momo today but our serve is 12 pieces per plate. We had few plates chicken momo too. We tried to order few extra plates to go but waitress said they are out of chicken momo too. And it was only 8pm. I then ordered a plate to biryani and told her to make it spicy and you know what she told me, biryani is pre made as mild. We cannot add extra spice m, we just warm it and serve. And of course it was stale. __ on my second visit, we sat and the same waitress came to take order and said we do not have momo today. I could not beileve her and asked her three times. Without a shame she said they did not have any momo at all. It was 6pm and being a Nepali restaurant they always are out of momo what’s the point? Disgusting service. I am done with this place. Will not visit and will not...
