This was my first and last visit here. First of all, me being from here (up north), I'm not used to being treated differently because of the way I look. Originally, I thought that it was just me. But my friend said he felt the same thing after we had been seated. The sign asks for you to wait to be seated. I felt the wait was too long, but I still gave them the benefit of the doubt. The lady at the register avoided eye contact and never even spoke to us (we were right there in her face). I didn't get that feeling from my server though. The food was definitely over rated, very bland. I was going to get the desserts to go because they were so beautiful. But I was so over the atmosphere, that I decided against it. We were the only African Americans in the restaurant at the time. No one waited like we did. My bill for my friend and I came up to $42 for breakfast ( I left my food on the table_ate the rye and french toast). I don't mind paying for good food and great customer service, but I received neither. The only reason I didn't give them a zero was because of our server. There was this waitress with this face and dated updo. The energy coming off Ms. Face was so negative and unwelcoming, it felt like another time era (the 60s). My friend was trying to ask Ms. Face for some napkins. You would have thought that he had asked her for the combination to the safe. Maybe if we had been any other race. I felt tolerated at best. When you go to a family restaurant, your experience should be welcoming and that was definitely not the case here. (Which is surprising with them being located in such a diverse community). You have been warned ⚠️ please take your money where you are wanted. This feels like another time period. The energy coming off of Ms. Face was so obvious. She did everything she could to avoid our table, which they probably took out...
Read moreStaff are very rude and food is bland. Hostess at the front kept screaming to everyone asking who was picking up and who was waiting. Ummm we're all waiting for different reasons, you'll have to be more specific. She didn't smile once the whole time I interacted with her and it took like 15 min for me to be seated on a Saturday afternoon. The waitress rushed my girlfriend through her order after we indicated we weren't quite sure what we wanted and then when we were off-put by her insistence we order as quickly as humanly possible, the server asked "Is that all??" and proceeded to explain that she likes to get people through their meals quickly bc more tips that way. It was like 2pm on a Saturday honey I promise you that me finishing the french toast on my plate 20 min earlier will not bring you more tips. She then gave us the check while neither of us had even started on our food and said "let me know if you need anything else." Ma'am, we barely received the "anything" we came for! At the end of the meal, the cashier at the front practically forces you to announce your tip to the whole restaurant (most likely bc they know they won't get them otherwise), and I ended up paying like $40 for a chicken panini and french toast. Yeah no thanks, I'll go to Nick's in Ohio City next time I need brunch.
Another time I went here with a friend, the server nearly forgot we were there, took forever with the food, and never refilled my coffee. It was a completely different time of day, but the exact same experience. Hit up literally any of the other brunch places in the area next time you...
