Whit's Frozen Custard of Cleveland, TN — Restaurant in Cleveland

I want to precedent this review by saying the custard is delicious. It is absolutely excellent. I really want this to be my go-to frozen treat place. However, after having been four times and having a not so great experience three times, I had to leave three stars. I understand being a new establishment it might take a while to adjust to the popularity and customer load, however they feature two main flavors of custard. Three times now I have waited in an extremely long line for them to have been sold completely out of chocolate custard. Clearly this is the most popular flavor. For custard that is made on premises, I am not entirely sure why they are consistently always out. I’ve also had to wait in a drive thru line that is long and you can’t remove yourself from to find out that they’ve been out of custard. Both times, we have had to pay 18 dollars for two custards we didn’t really even want because of the flavor. If they are consistently out a flavor, perhaps it can be displayed so customers can opt not to be frapped in a drive thru line or the long in-store line that runs out the door.

Despite this, I absolutely recommend you visit because the custard is good and perhaps the best around, however, I would not count on chocolate being a choice. If you prefer vanilla, you will have the best experience.

Additionally, only being open until 9pm when summer is on the horizon surprises me as well. If you plan on going in the evening at all during that time, which most people do, expect them to be out of custard flavors that are...

Whits started out as one of our favorite places to go. Its has since gone downhill. We have tried to give a few extra chances but there are some major issues that unfortunately seem to be the new norm. There's always a new person working the register that is unfortunately stuck high and dry with minimal or no training. They can't ring in items listed on the menu, etc and seem to struggle keeping up with the pace. The poor girl that helped us tonight was very nice and sweet but obviously had little to no training. -When getting a whitser, the top 1 inch of a large is blended with toppings. The rest of the (around) 6 inches is just straight vanilla ice cream. We got charged extra for toppings that we didn't receive. -The storefront is so cramped and uncomfortable and calls for a larger space that is laid out better. My husband and I love frozen custard and I’m so glad we stopped in! Staff was super friendly, everything was very clean, and the custard was so good! My husband had the flavor of the week (dark raspberry chip) and he said it was his favorite frozen custard he’s had. I tried it and the only bad part is they don’t have it all the time because it’s so good! I had vanilla with hot caramel and snickers and I really liked it. We will definitely be back when we visit Cleveland again. Only down side to the experience is I needed to change our sons diaper and they didn’t have a change table in the restroom but that’s such a small thing in comparison to all of the great things about this place....
