I typically don't leave reviews like most people unless it's really good or really bad and this is one of those times that a review is called for.
I've been going to Big Toms for awhile now and for the most part it was a decent experience. One thing me and my lady learned today, is that if you don't like the way something is cooked and you complain not only will someone from the kitchen come out to see who had the complaint, but they will also be discuss it at the bar where it can be heard 6 feet away to where we were sitting. Then to bring out the very thing that was cooked too long the first time but a second was infuriating. Then the owner comes over and asked what was wrong with the cheese bites and my reply was they are too hard especially with my ladies partial she has. Right off the bat he picks one up and says it's not hard and squishes it. "If anything it's undercooked". Then proceeds to tell me everytime me or my lady comes in there something is always wrong and no one else complains except for us. So now it has turned into a personal attack.
Oh and then he says and I quote" your not going to win this". I said I'm not trying to win anything and explained I'm not trying to be aggressive about this but now, we feel uncomfortable and your the one making us feel that way. I said that's fine we don't have to come back Instead of trying to be understanding and apologetic about the whole situation his final response from a business owner to a customer was " well let me make your last visit here memorable I'll pay for everything"including the one beer I drank and one mixed drink my lady got. So now it was, let me show you know how big you are compared to me. You never know who you are talking to, and it felt like an attempt to bully me into shutting up. He was not being hospitable and understanding, and now he was being unprofessional, rude and disrespectful to not only me but my lady that was sitting right beside me. Just because you own a business doesn't mean you know how to run it. Thinking you can treat customers however you want is an easy way to get a negative review. So read it and know I wasn't trying to win anything but reviews don't just go away and understand you cant just talk to people however you want. You have disrespected and insulted me and my lady and I just want people know what to expect if their food is not to their liking. So yeah, like you so eloquently put it, it was memorable alright. Your moment of arrogance and attempt at intimidation will be forever be memorialized online forever. You need to think before you speak sometimes and to disrespect someone that is a patron in your establishment is disgraceful. Congratulations on showing what is most important in your business your ego. Thanks for the...
Read moreI've been wanting to try Big Tom's ever since it was on resturant impossible so tonight I decided to have it delivered. Now this is just my opinion and I do take into consideration that the food wasn't as fresh as if I had eaten it at the resturant. So I actually spent $122.00 with tip so that there was plenty of variety! Chicken and waffles you get 2 tenders and 2 waffles about as big around as an orange not a whole lot for an adult portion but plenty for my 7yr old while the tenders were excellent the waffles well not so much the batter clearly wasent mixed well and over cooked as if there wasn't enough liquid added to the batter because they were very tough!! Blackened chicken salad the salad is very big and has cheese, cherry tomatoes, croutons, some crispy noodles things and mixed greens excellent salad oh and a sliced boiled egg. The piece of chicken so very very small which was disappointing! Catfish basket got them blackened and baked potatoes for the side. Lots of catfish perfectly cooked well seasoned no fishy taste at all. Potatoes was cooked perfectly! Tilapia basket blackened as well. This came with rice 2 pieces of tilapia and a side we got tator tots. Tilapia lacked seasoning and desperately needed a couple lemon wedges squeezed on top but they didn't come with any. Very disappointed. Tots were great! Kids mini corndogs with fries it would of been hard to screw that up but my 4 yr old loved it! 1lb pulled pork very well cooked tender and moist very flavorful. The barbeque sauces were very good highly recommend Fried green tomatoes perfectly cooked very delicious highly recommend! Slaw was also very good! We also got a side of fries my biggest complaint would be for $5 you don't get much. And a side of Mac n cheese. My opinion don't try while the noodles were cooked perfectly the cheese sauce tastes like out of a can! I would have to say my experience is 50/50. Definitely try the pullporked blackened catfish green tomatoes and chicken tenders! I will probably try again because I believe that while the menu is the same not all cooks cook the same and I do find that sometimes a restaurant isn't good but at other times it is a lot lies...
Read moreI took my family here for lunch this afternoon, it was a first visit for all six of us. We were all VERY pleasantly surprised. One of my sisters is not a drinker and was kind of hesitant because she expected it to be a typical bar type atmosphere. The atmosphere is great and nothing like what she expected, she was very comfortable. Everything in the restaurant was spotless, and neat, and there was no wait. The service was very prompt, and the server friendly knowledgeable and very efficient. The food was the best surprise tho, EVERYTHING was freshly prepared and hot. I had the pulled pork, which was perfectly seasoned, and not greasy at all, baked beans were the best in town, and the cole slaw was very fresh and delicious. My brother and sister in law both had the cuban and said it was really really good. My other brother had the spicy chicken salad sandwich and said it was the best he ever had. Three of us had the jalapeño soup, which was out of this world, I would go back just for that. Draft beer was ice cold, and only $2 each. The food prices were more than reasonable, and the portions were very generous. The owner himself came by the table a couple of times to make sure everything was good, which is very impressive these days. It was obvious he takes a lot of pride in his food, and establishment. After we finished eating we got to sit and visit with each other and talk for a while and never once felt like they wanted us to leave. I hate it took me this long to try this place, but I will be a regular from now on for sure. As we were leaving the owner told us they have a Sunday dinner special just like Grandma always cooked every Sunday. I cant wait to...
