I was not able to rate ZERO. Approximately 9:25pm on May 12, 2018 I ordered a carry out meal from May Hong Restaurant. Approximately 11pm the same day, the meal was taken home to consume. I opened the container of General Tso Chicken (very salty by the way/too much soy sauce), placed my fork into the Shrimp Fried rice, put a fork full of food into my mouth, bit into what felt like a hard object and pulled a band aid that was fully open out of my mouth. It also had the white absorbent pad that was also in my mouth and detached from the adhesive piece. I immediately swabbed my mouth and put the Q-tip in a sterile sealed container and put the Band-Aid in a closed ziplock bag. The Health Department instructs you to keep the food and the item cold or frozen. I did. A complaint was filed with the BBB and Macomb County Health Department. (Pictures) The next day this was shared with the owner, Sara, who denied any of this. She said she was the one who fulfilled the order and that she has cameras in the kitchen. She thought we were scamming. I had the food and was prepared to call the police if she did not refund me. She did refund my money though. I had the food with me in the bag. She tried to keep it and would not inspect it. I kept the food as proof. She then said she’d be in business for many years to come. Okay but I hope she doesn’t stir in open bandaids in the pots! An attorney was consulted regarding negligence. An investigator from the Health Department visited the restaurant and told me they did not discover any employees who may have had sores (but this was not until the 15th). The investigator said she checked the hands of all who were working that day and it was a possibility that particular employee were not working. This was our second visit at the restaurant. The first time my husband ate patronized there he got sick. Food poisoning for him. Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice shame on me. I love Asian Bistro. They were closed. Otherwise I would have eaten there as I’ve never had a problem with foreign objects in my food. Asian Bistro is one of the friendliest and cleanest Chinese...
Read moreI was the first and only person that was in the restaurant (including the server). It wasn’t long before a few customers came in and ordered dine in.
First impression was okay. Nothing extravagant.
Ordered within the lunch time, so I got a decent amount of food for $9. I guess you get what you pay for.
As I’m finished with ordering my food, the server asks what spice level do I prefer. I told her Hot.
She brings out the wonton soup as the app, which to my misunderstanding it has pork; something I don’t eat. Also my entree had no spice. Flavors were solid but not exploding with flavor.
I told her about my concern with the soup and food. She looks at me surprised when I said I don’t eat pork but asks if I would like the Egg drop soup, I said sure.
“Also my food has no spice to it.” I say. She responds, “you never said anything about spice level.”
I reply back to her with reassurance that I did tell her my spice level. Now I’m very understanding if you forgot that’s fine, but don’t tell me what I did and didn’t say. I was on the phone with someone that can confirm that I said what spice level I said. This was extremely frustrating.
So she then brings out the Egg Drop soup and the consistency of it was as thick as chowder and it looked microwaved. I refused to eat that. She then disappears behind to the kitchen for 10 mins as I wait to check out. The cook came up front to see me waiting for her to cash my tab, to call her up front.
I could really go a step further and say the fortune cookie had no fortune in it, which could’ve been handed to be me by mistake or intentionally. The guest behind me left their cookie and it had a visible fortune. You decide what you think of this interaction. I won’t be back,...
Read moreWe went here around 5 or 6 and it was pretty quiet. Only one table was seated but a few more came in while we were here plus multiple carry-out orders.
We were immediately served by whom I'm assuming is the owner. A little while after we placed our order someone came and asked us to repeat our entire order (either to put it in the system for the bill, or to start bringing the food out.) They were the only staff on the floor and it seemed there wasn't very good communication between them.
We were brought our soup immediately after. The egg drop was hot and perfect consistency. Then came our crab rangoon, which seemed a little heavy on cream cheese but went beautifully with the sweet and sour.
Next, they brought the dumplings, which I understand to be made in store (I've been trying to find a place that didn't use frozen dumplings or gyoza.) They were absolutely delicious, probably my favorite of the night.
We got both egg rolls and spring rolls (yes we ordered a lot of apps,) and both were perfect. The filling was delicious and especially the crust of the spring roll was crisp and flaky.
There was a bit of a wait for our dinners, but it was worth the wait. The duck sai woo was very filling with a tasty sauce and plenty of vegetables. My wife got the almond chicken, and though she was too full to eat much of it, it was perfect.
We had more than enough food for leftovers as the dinner portions are plenty by themselves. There's always room for the fortune cookie, though. We definitely plan to...
