If Dante’s Inferno had a drive-thru, it would be the McDonald’s on Calhoun Street in South Carolina. I have never in my life experienced such a grotesque parody of what fast food should be. The night shift crew here is not just rude — they operate with an animalistic hostility that makes you feel less like a customer and more like an unwanted intruder in their personal wasteland.
McDonald’s corporate advertises this location as 24 hours, which is a laughable, outright lie. There is no food. No service. No trace of hospitality. What there is, however, is a staff that treats human beings as if we are inconveniences rather than customers. I walked away feeling like I had been stripped of basic dignity, like I was some alien entity begging for scraps in a place that’s supposed to serve the community.
I’ve eaten at McDonald’s across the country and never once have I been treated with such open disdain. This location is a masterclass in failure — a pit where service, respect, and basic decency go to die.
If corporate cares at all about their brand, this store needs a complete overhaul. Until then, McDonald’s Calhoun Street will remain a cautionary tale of how a global icon can rot at its roots when it forgets that customers are, in fact, human beings.
Overall: A horrific location staffed by a night crew so devoid of talent, professionalism, and basic humanity that their only skill seems to be disrespecting the very people they’re meant to serve.
Good luck McDonald’s on Calhoun Street!...
Read moreGo thru the drive thru and its only 830 and still have to pull up and wait on a biscuit with the other 3 car waiting (they need at least 6 more spots reserver for people waiting at the drive thru) and wait for a while while they male more biscuits and still leave stuff out of my order so have to drive back and get the rest of the food and tell the manager who is on her phone texting talking to an employee about some guy who texted her and tell the other to get the rest of my food and goes right back to texting and never apologizes or say anything. The day before order only 2 double CHEESEburgers with only cheese and ketchup and get no cheese and ketchup and everything else. I made sure I told the cheese because if you tell them just ketchup you will get no cheese and still didn't get it after the repeated it back to me. If I didn't want cheese I would just order a hamburger. We go there because its cheaper but if we go to chick_fila we may pay a few bucks more but they are always nice and never get an order wrong and even when the line is wrapped around the building we get our food in no time and the food is a lot better we don't have to eat cold food because we had to go back and get the rest of our food...
Read moreThe male cashier, wouldn't give me a receipt for my coffee. I pulled forward to the other window and he had the audacity, to tell me ," pull over to the side, because, we've got to make coffee" . I said, I want a refund, I'm not waiting on coffee, and you didn't give me a receipt. He got hostile and duplicated everything I said to his coworker and finally gave me a refund. I was in the drive thru, approximately 5 minutes. There were no customers in line behind me, nor in front of me. I clearly , see why. Nobody is going to, subject, themselves, to a hostile environment, and eat or drink, someone's cooking. This man has no business, working at the window or the front counter, with that attitude. My passenger, in the car couldn't believe, how, this guy disrespected me, and no coffee, nor any business, around 9:20 am. If McDonald's, wonder why , they don't have much business, then terminate his employment , maybe business...
