Monical's Pizza — Restaurant in Clinton

This restaurant used to be wonderful; I've been coming here since I was a kid. Monicals is my number one favorite pizza ever. During Covid this restaurant, like so many others, decided to take advantage of a bad situation and drop menu items, including the AYCE salad bar for the lunch buffet. Fine.... but they didn't lower their prices to compensate for the loss of the salad bar. A tiny bowl of shredded lettuce and cheese was their idea of a salad. If you wanted more, it was an extra charge, but the second bowl, at least, had 3 spoiled tomato chunks on it. The people who are currently employed here are mostly all young kids who could care less about customer service or doing their job well. Customers aren't supposed to get their own refills, but I've never had someone offer to get me a refill. It seems they're too busy checking social media on their phones in the kitchen to actually tend to the dining room.... I realized this whilst repeatedly getting my own refills because you can see right into the kitchen from the soda fountain. And they expect a tip. For bringing me the first drink.... whoop. I did a lot more than that at every job I've ever had and I didn't get tips. Hopefully the Clinton Monical's will someday be able to hire some responsible adults as management. Please fix this, Clinton Monicals, you used to be so much better than this, you employed genuinely helpful and kind people. Until then, I'm glad there are Monical's in other cities to visit. My family and I went to Monicals in Clinton today. We ordered their lunch buffet. The pizza was amazing! Well most of it. Some of them were way to salty. I don't know what seasoning they were using in the past and if it's still the same or not but it was SALTY! Maybe they over seasoned a few of them. Either way I say the pizza was good. So why the 2 star rating- Our waitress Emily! We were there for an hour and a half just sitting and trying to enjoy our day. No rush to be anywhere but after about 15 minutes the waitress comes over and sets the receipt down. No rush she says this is just here for whenever you are ready. I didn't mind that as lots of places do that now. What made me mad was after she put the receipt down she didn't come back over for any reason. After about 30 minutes I got up and filled our glasses that had long been empty. She saw me doing this and said "Sorry I know I'm slacking." and then chuckled. I thought to myself I don't find it funny that our table was just abandoned after the bill was given. Still after that she didn't come over to our table. She went to a table right behind us and asked if they were done with the cold bar as they were going to put everything away. She didn't ask us before walking over to it and taking it all away and tossing it. I was a little irritated as I wasn't done with the cold bar but I guess our table just doesn't matter. First time at this Monical's though I've been to many, including the one in my hometown, and I love Monical's. This was very disappointing. We got there at 5 thinking we would have plenty of time to eat and be in Decatur by 6:30. We got drinks, a salad, and 2 breadsticks pretty quickly, but after 50 minutes still no individual pizzas. The place was not busy at all, maybe three tables occupied, and there were several employees just standing around. Apparently, there were several new people and our order got lost. By that time we had to leave to make it to our appointment on time, but our pizzas suddenly arrived as we were checking out so we requested they be wrapped. Mine ended up sitting in the car because I couldn't eat it and drive, and my partner couldn't finish eating theirs because they said it tasted bad. We asked for two tickets when we ordered, but they were rung up as one. We then asked for them to be split based on what we ordered. One person was given a discount and not charged for their pizza - we asked why that tab was so low and that is what we were told. The other person was charged full price for nearly the same order. Couldn't get an explanation why one person was charged $7 and the other charged $14. At that point we had to leave without any answers. We were there an hour with no pizza. We didn't even get...
