I have never eaten at a Sonic without getting sick. That said, I was very overheated and I have swung by this Sonic two or three times for drinks because it's right next to a grocery store that I frequent.
Firstly, the price of their drinks has gotten absolutely absurd.
And I used to frequent Sonic for their drinks. But $6 for a cherry limeade is wild. Unless it has alcohol in it, and spoiler it doesn't.
In addition, not only do they charge more for water than any other restaurant or fast food chain in all of the state, but if you are getting water because you don't want a cup full of syrup and ice, which is what this particular Sonic will serve you if you get any of their flavored drinks, they also won't even give you their happy hour discount. So if you just happen to be dying of heat stroke in the 97° South Carolina weather, and you stop by the Sonic here's what you can expect:
Speakers that are busted and way too quiet In order to communicate with the people on the other side of them (This has been so bad that people have literally come to my car to take my order because they can't hear me or I can't hear them, I'm not hard of hearing, it's a problem and it's been in every spot I've parked in)
Screens next to those speakers that just straight up don't work at all, so you cannot use digital payment features, and you can't see what's being rung up, so if they get your order wrong through those shoddy speakers, you have no idea until you've driven away and are drinking it (I don't know if the entire location has busted screens, or if I just happen to have parked three different spots and every single one of them happens to have had a broken screen but that seems sus to me)
God help you. If you actually do get a mixed drink, there is a small chance. A very very small chance, that you will get a decent drink. But the overwhelming likelihood is that you will get a bunch of syrup in the bottom of a very large cup with some ice on top of it. It's bad.
And even getting just a cup of ice water to prevent heat stroke which frankly is illegal in a lot of states and South Carolina needs to wake up, I got a cup of ice water that I very desperately drank and had to pay $1.20 for, which is insane, And I could barely drink half of it because it tasted so strongly of Styrofoam and had an undertone of like a weird metallic aftertaste. Now, before you say well, you were drinking it from a styrofoam cup and it's water and doesn't have a flavor, the actual problem was not the styrofoam cup, because I poured it into a different receptacle. I believe the actual problem is that their ice maker hasn't been cleaned in possibly much too long. Because the water itself was okay? But only for a short period of time, and the more the ice melted the worse the metallic tastes got. I have worked in restaurants, and funky. Tastes in ice is always always always a matter of an ice machine not getting cleaned. Now, Sonic actually sells their ice on its own because like a big deal to people here. Apparently? That they have this compacted crushed ice? Imagine buying, for $2.50 More, just ice. And the whole thing tastes like a styrofoam cooler. Likely because they've got bits of crap in their ice machine and they aren't maintenancing it properly. Which also heavily suggests that their ice machine will have mold/ mildew in it.

Read moreFood can be good, but they have a problem giving what you order. My sister & I are highly allergic to onions. Nearly always get onions. Think they must be close to lettuce because they are always mixed in with lettuce. Need to distance them from each other. Usually mixes the orders up: cheese when you tell them no cheese, ketchup when you ask for mayo, lettuce & tomato ONLY, 90% of the time you cannot place an order thru your app & my phone, no place on the app for special instructions, such as, no salt on fries or anything, etc. Service is good, but one manager told us that the reason our order was no right was because we ordered a Junior burger and that if we ordered a regular burger it would have been right. Should never make your customers feel stupid. If they can't make a small burger correct, why can they make a large...
Read moreIt has been a long time since I have visited a Sonic restaurant, the last time I went to one (not this one) the food, service and sanitation was so bad that I wouldn't go to one again until today. I was on a road trip and I knew this one was coming up soon and I started thing about the double cheeseburger and just had to have one. I am glad that I decided to stop. The service was fast, the store was clean and when the food arrived it was absolutely wonderful; just like I remembered from the old days. I pass by this one about once a month and I now have a place where I can look forward to stopping again. I want to express my sincerest thanks to the entire crew that was working at 2:30pm on 06/25/2021, you have made me like...
