Situated right on historic downtown Clinton's main square, Steamers is a fantastic little cafe and is an outstanding place for lunch. I've eaten here a dozen times or more and have never been disappointed.
The restaurant offers a great selection of menu items ranging from many different salads to soups, a multitude of sandwiches, and heartier entrees including smoked turkey and pork. While all of the meals I've had here have been great, I'm partial to their chicken salad sandwich (excellent, especially on a croissant). It's also worth upgrading any sandwich side to their sweet potato fries.
As for atmosphere, the place is simple but quite clean. And, the staff are friendly and attentive, especially considering how busy the place can be during lunch. If you find yourself in Clinton or driving by and needing a lunch spot, Steamers should be your #1 choice. It's well worth the short 5-minute drive off of I-26 to get some...
Read moreI'll be very honest when I say that I have been multiple times and forced myself to be patient and try again before writing a review, but this place truly is ridiculous. Went in on FOUR separate occasions, and experienced the same issues. The waitress was nice as well as the girl up front, all seemed to be working hard. Only issue is, every time I have come in, it has not been extremely busy and we have waited over 30 minutes. There have been times where we were the only table in there, and it took longer than it should have. I tried to be patient and understanding, but it seems like every time, a server has had to apologize for my food taking forever. As a previous server myself, I try to understand and be patient with restaurants, but this is unacceptable. Kitchen staff needs to be figured out, fast! Will not be getting my...
Read moreThis is a decent place for lunch but nothing I've had here was better than diner food. Nothing award winning but for the area and town it's not bad. With a name like steamers I thought it might be a sports bar or something but instead they have it set up like some basic diner. But the food is what's important here and the patty melt I had was ok and the bird dogs we had were fairly good. The Mac and cheese was really greasy and there was a puddle of grease or butter in the bowl. They have ice cream and dessert here and it's pretty hard to mess that up. Prices were around 7 to 8 bucks per meal. If you're into hole in the wall diners give them a try. The service was really good and the staff were super friendly and attentive. Just don't go here expecting big city food, remember this is a small town and a...
