Ted's Garage Amer Classic Grille — Restaurant in Clinton

We went on a Tues about 2pm. It was not very busy. Only people at 3 tables when we got there. Sign said seat yourself, so husband and I did. 1 waitress looked right at us never came over. She brought the gentlemana food who was sitting right in front of us and walked back to kitchen. The other waitress came out checked the other tables beside us who had 3 people. Looked right at us. Never got a single word from either of them. No menu, no hello how are you today, no give me just a minute. They both seen us numerous times. 1 started wiping tables. Another customer came in and they immediately greeted him and asked him what he wanted to drink and got him a menu, while we were still waiting . The other lady came back right beside us to ask how the 3 at the table behind us was doing and walked back to the kitchen area. Then another customer was getting ready to come in, they seen him coming and obviously knew them because they said oh "so and so"is here. That's when we had had enough. We got up and left and still they said NOTHING!! But I know they seen us then cause the atmosphere of the room got different when they finally watched us walk out. My husband called the place as we were leaving to talk to the manager and waited several minutes and being told to hold. He finally just hung up. Very disappointed. Sitting around on Labor Day Sunday, everyone hungry but no one wanted to cook so we headed to Ted's Garage in Clinton, Illinois. If you have never been, you should certainly try this local fav! Full of fun car related decor, its a warm welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff, wonderful food and great prices!

They were busy but we were seated right away. Our server, Sierra, got our drink order while we checked out the menu. Almost everyone got steak, except my uncle who got the taco salad.

I ordered the Cheyenne Sirloin with sauted mushrooms and onions, a couple people ordered ribeyes and other steaks. The food came out fast, hot and fresh! My medium rare steak was perfect and came with a big baked potato. All the steaks were wonderful and Unc pronounced taco salad fresh and delicious!

Besides the terrific food and fun ambiance, what made our visit special was our server, Sierra. She was very friendly, helpful and attentive with order updates, refills and checked on us several times through the meal. Terrific Service, Sierra!

Ted's Garage is definitely a favorite and worth the quick drive up to Clinton! I highly recommend it! ...

This place was neat! When you pull up, the entrance is in the rear off the main road. When you get out and walk up to the door the wall in front of the door is plastered with unique license plates. Upon walking inside, your lead down a short hallway that has photos on both sides of old cars. As you walk up to the hostess stand, there is a large red Craftsman toolbox that presumably holds restaurant supplies. Once near the host of Stan, there is a replica Texaco gas pump and photos of Elvis. Upon being seated, we were given menus and the waitress took our drink orders. The food was very tasty and the service was great as well as the atmosphere was nostalgic which I enjoyed.
