I actually frequent this restaurant numerous times. Today I am extremely disappointed with my delivery. I ordered two Pho dishes & one soda. My order arrived with only the Pho broths, the following was missing: the noodles that comes with the pho & one soda. I actually called back to see if it was maybe a simple mistake. When I called the restaurant, I was met with a unapologetic "oh no, I'm sorry." And was told that I can either come pick-up the noodles myself OR recieve two free Pho's when I come or order next time. I was pretty shocked at the response being that it seemed as though I was being of some sort of burden to them when all I asked for was what I ordered. Honestly, I would have just waited if they were going to deliver the noodles so I can actually eat the meal but I couldn't. After a long day of driving almost 3 hours from work & ordering ahead of time to make sure I get my food on time, I was just met with negligence with no care for the customer. I myself am in customer service & if there is a mistake or any issues I would make it a priority to fix it immediately to ensure the quality of service. Not to mention, this was not the first time this restaurant did not send me the correct item ordered. I didn't even make it an issue last time because of the timing & inconvenience. I even called back & ask to speak to the manager & was again met with an even more unapologetic response & lack of care in response to fixing the problem. After the past experiences, I will not return back to this restaurant nor do I recommend visiting such an establishment with no quality in...
Read moreThis was absolutely terrible We try to support small restaurants and businesses during this pandemic and decided to try a few items as we were recommended to this place We had the duck bao buns, banh mi fries, Thai iced tea, chicken pad Thai and chicken fried rice First off, the Thai iced tea was very bland and not as creamy or fragrant as other places The duck was good although very salty, probably jarred hoisen sauce which is always extremely salty. I wouldn't really complain about this except they topped it off with a rotting piece of cilantro. Not too appetizing but moving on The chicken pad Thai noodles were terrible and stuck together, hard to eat and chewy, probably the worst pad Thai I've ever had. The seasoning wasn't uniform and some parts were just sour and other parts spicy. The chicken was burnt. Not a nice char, just burnt The chicken fried rice was the worst thing I've ever seen. It was sloppily cooked with absolutely no care. Clumps of white rice, burnt egg, and burnt chicken. That burnt taste was mixed throughout with little burnt pieces and made it completely unedible. Even the worst home cook could do a better job. Lastly the fries-- I thought this might be their saving grace. Nice flavors and interesting combinations but ladled with grease, grease and more grease. Also- unexplainably more burnt pieces that I could not identify as food. A few minutes in and I regretted every bite. $40 later and an upset stomach Suffice to say, I will never be going back. Just completely unfortunate, I expected...
Read moreNamed Best of Bergen Finalist for 2022 and 2023, this establishment opened 7 years ago as a fast-casual Vietnamese restaurant located in Closter, where I came as a first-timer for lunch today. Upon entering, it was very simple, cozy, yet clean, with a couple of little tables, and I was fortunate to meet up with the husband-and-wife team. They also own a sister restaurant, “Simply Vietnamese,” in Tenafly. The owner, Joe, has informed me that the eatery is named “Ma Mì," which is derived from "Ma," paying tribute to his mother and grandmother, while "mì" means bread or noodle in Vietnamese. The menu is relatively simple, not overly complex, consisting of banh mi sandwiches, pho soup, bao buns, and salads. For starters, I decided on the summer roll with chicken and avocado. As the main meal, I opted for the seafood pho consisting of shrimp and basa (fish). To wash these down, I ordered the Thai iced tea. Since all orders, including dine-in, are packed to go, the food was packaged very well. They included siracha and hoisen sauce without asking for the pho. The soup was bursting with flavors of anise and other spices—perfectly warm and comforting. The broth was generous in size, and the noodles were fresh. The rolls were okay, but not wrapped tightly. The friendly staff makes you feel like family, and the price is reasonable, so I can...
