Inside it's a nice intimate style looking restaurant. If you like service without a smile you will love this restaurant. The waitress and waiter seemed like they had attitudes and it indeed showed throughout the dinner. The mussels were very good and I liked the sauce, however it ended there. I was just finishing up my last mussel and dipping my bread when the waitress reached ACROSS the table put her thumb in my plate and proceeded to take my plate! I said I'm obviously not done yet. She looked like she wanted to kill me. You can't make this stuff up. The shrimp fradavlo had NO flavor what so ever. Not even spicy, worst I have ever had. Wife had Chicken Francaise and again very little flavor. The icing on the cake was asking for a Cappuccino with a shot of Espresso. The waitress looked horrified and mad, no exaggeration here. Maybe she didn't know want I wanted, so I get it. But she looked very mad and upset at my request. The waiter came over and asked what I wanted and said okay, however he also looked SUPER displeased by my request also for something so simple. We had four in our party and we all agreed on the poor customer experience. Do not need to get into our two guests reactions. Most of the restaurants we eat at always get a second chance because things happen. But this restaurant will not even get a second chance. They deserve to have customers of their own kind. Clientele in the restaurant seemed like a professional type with nice casual dress. All you have to do is go experience it for yourself while...
Read moreStorefront.BYOB. Reservation made n then we were sat at a table very close to wait station n bathroom. We moved to a better table. Service is ok..had to ask for bread plates n napkins. Specials are expensive, more than regular prices. Ordered special appetizers..baked oreganata clams( good stuffing laid on top of whole clam ) arugula salad with pear, gorgonzola n walnuts ( they brought me a plate of arugula ..had to ask where the pear etc was..brought it back..had to ask for ground pepper, very dry salad..pear was hard and a chunk of gorgonzola was on top ( they couldn't crumble it??? and mix it in the dry salad). Friend ordered pasta fagioli..looked watery..bread was served..hard.,not warm, ate one small piece. For entree had Scallops over spinach n garlic in butter lemon sauce..Scallops were seared nice on top..spinach done well..hardly any lemon sauce or butter and taste of garlic.but was good but- 38.00..came with salad ( asked for them to give me that to go, since I had the special salad- never saw it). Friend had to ask for parmesan for her spaghetti. She truly enjoyed the spaghetti n clam sauce ( they said it was linguine?). Tiramisu was excellent and a nice size for 6.00. Bathroom was dirty, full of trash can overflowing and door very dirty. Overall, a nice experience, but after hearing so many raves about this place I would say it was just ok. But will try again..maybe for the veal piccata at 26..that looked good and update this...
Read moreI have been here multiple times and have never been that impressed by the food. However, it has been a staple in Closter for generations and a lot of people have loved it for years. I did not grow up here so, no nostalgia for me. Having said that, my last experience was awful. 1. If you announce you are the server, then the table should see you again (not once came back, but others did). 2. Wait staff should not roll their eyes dramatically at customers no matter what 3. If there is a complaint, (no water refill for 45 min and dessert brought with no utensils, cake brought and staff sang but not cut nor plates or utensils to eat it) then I should not be lectured about how I don't understand how a restaurant works followed by a rolling of the eyes, hands in the arm and stomping away mid sentence. I will never return because after all that, the manager's son came out, not to apologize or see what he could do, but to tell us how he had done us a favor by accomodating such a large group and that they serve 150 people a night. I'm afraid if that is how they continue to treat customers, it will not last much longer....
