Day: Friday Time: Lunchish Note: Only accepts cash or (if you can believe it) local checks. I really wanted to like my experience here today because I used to go here when it was Bogey's -- and I know, a review that says it isn't Bogey's isn't fair from the get-go, so let me start with the positives. It was clean. In a place with max capacity of 43, clean is important. Service was friendly but seemed a bit disorganized, especially since any lunch rush was over and there were maybe 4 tables. The food? My companion had biscuits and gravy which he said was very good. The gravy appeared to be homemade although it was a brown gravy instead of a traditional white, so IDK the reason for that unless they're using brown roux pre-baked flour base (food nerd!) - I had the special 2 eggs, home fries and toast with extra bacon. So this leads to the one negative - the bacon. It definitely was not fresh off the flat top. It was stiff as a board and barely warm. Had I thought of it then, I'd have asked for some fresh cooked, but alas, I did not and so it is that said bacon from noon today, has had my stomach upset all day long up to 11pm as I'm writing this. So, to the (new) owners, just please serve fresh, hot product. It can just make 1000% difference. I'm willing to give it another try, but y'all can be sure next time I'm going to make sure things are freshly prepared. For me, it's not worth being sick all day; Your mileage...
Read moreMoved to Clyde 4 years ago and finally stopped in at Pam and Al's Diner. Was a very friendly atmosphere and the workers seemed to know everyone by name. Lots of regular customers which is a great sign in my opinion. Ordered breakfast and my son ordered lunch. We were both impressed with the service and or meals. The only thing I can complain about is the chili. The chili they served on the chili fries was not even comparable to the other food items. I will pass next time as it had beans and was really sweet. Never saw chili fries with beans so I was caught off guard. We left the whole order of chili fries with only 2 bites taken from it and passed on a to go box. I was hoping they would notice and remove it from our bill but I didn't mention it so it's understandable. That is the ONLY reason they are not getting a 5 star rating. They really should change the recipe or take it off the menu all together. It was not edible. As far as everything else it was delicious and we will definitely be making this a normal breakfast spot and look forward to being known by name as well. Keep up the good work! Also I would like to mention the homemade special deserts are absolutely...
Read moreI used to go to the diner on a weekly basis when it was owned by the previous owner back when it was Gary's Diner over the last several years, so I was for a while a frequent customer. Since changing owners I've noticed the portion sizes had gone down while prices have gone up (before the whole COVID outbreak) and the most recent time I had gone I had not been impressed: Dad's home fries were chock full of onions (did not ask for them), my eggs were not over easy, Dad's tomato juice was bad/rancid, and the oil that was used to cook the food smelled old. I made a beeline for the Tums in the jeep glovebox after leaving.
Prior that experience I went there with my dad for lunch. Where once a full order of fries would be a meal in upon itself it barely covered half a plate. The burger was good at least, but I would hate to see what a half order of fries looks like now. I got more for less when I went to Chick-fil-A the next day up in Sandusky.
I can't see myself going back unless friends or family decide on going but considering how they're all in agreement with me on the food portions and quality it is a safe bet I will not be returning for the foreseeable...
