What a treat! Date night! Great experience at one of the oldest restaurants in the Town of Cohasset. Wife and I decided to try the Red Lion Tavern since they advertised a new chef and a new menu plus $1 oysters special on Wednesdays starting August 28, 2024. Tried to make reservations the night before but the online reservations did not work. Decided to go anyway figuring if we were early enough as they opened, we’d get a table. As we walked in, right away we were greeted at the door by one of the (I think) manager who held the door opened for us. As we walked through the bar towards the hostess check in, we were pleasantly greeted by the staff and bartender. Checking in with the hostess with a cheerful conversation, we were escorted to a table. The restaurant maintained a colonial rustic charm as it did when we visited many years ago, BC (before children). Very clean, well lit and comfortable. Once seated, we were welcomed by Laura, our waitress for the evening. She made all the difference making the whole evening and experience perfect and excellent. She was friendly, professional, attentive, courteous and helpful. Absolutely 5 star service. Took the time to explain the menu including some of the popular, new and special items featured. Throughout the whole evening, the waitstaff and managers also checked on us. Perfect timing in bringing out our order, clearing dishes, replacing utensils and replenishing drinks. For appetizers, we ordered the Korean bbq ribs, cornbread lobster and a dozen oysters on the half shell. For entrees, wife ordered the Caesar salad with salmon and I ordered the steak tartar (it was listed on the appetizers but wanted it as my entree after devouring the other apps and 2 dozen oysters). For dessert, we shared an espresso on chocolate mousse. Delightful! All the dishes cooked and prepared perfectly. Awesome presentations and delicious. Highly recommend! Will definitely return to try the other items on the menu plus more $1 oysters.

Restaurant has a Red Lion Rewards program. You can sign up on your bill tab which I did. Then reward points are supposed to be added to the account with each meal purchased with your credit card on file. Well, for whatever reason, it didnt add any points for subsequent meals I purchased with my credit card. Nearly 6 weeks ago, I discussed my problem in person with the restaurant manager. He told me he would fix the problem with my account and call me. Well, it has been nearly 6 weeks and the manager has neither followed up with me nor fixed the issue. Although I like the food, I prefer to not support restaurants with weak customer service... REPLY TO THE FIRST NOW DELETED RED LION RESPONSE stating they do not have a rewards program at this time. I also received an email after enrolling saying "Welcome to the Red Lion Rewards". The attached photos shows the bottom of my receipt from a meal at the Red Lion Tavern on 12/27/24... less than a month ago. It reads "Join our loyalty program..." You said you do not have a rewards program but didnt say tour loyalty/rewards program was discontinued. Please verify the status of your loyalty program that is advertised on all your restaurant checks.

We had such a memorable dinner Wednesday night, we returned Saturday night and I ordered the same exact dinner! The kale salad was so delicious and the Ricotta Gnudi is a must taste. We ordered the Roasted Winter Squash appetizer that was delicious. My daughter had the Herb Tagliatelle that she enjoyed and took a photo of! Their pastas are all homemade. The Chateau Lyonnat was a delicious red wine to accompany the dinner and so reasonably priced for the taste and quality. The service was excellent both nights. We had Angela Saturday night who was exceptional. I highly recommend trying them out.

Went to The Cave for the 1st time in my life to see Gordon's Law. Was a $5.00 cover charge so I tried to give the lady at the entrance $5.00 cash, she informed me I had to pay by card, so I gave her my card .... come to find out they charged $6.22 to my credit card, I was not informed of this extra charge at the time and I still don't know what the extra $1.22 was for. I then went downstairs and bought a beer at the bar in the Cave, gave the woman $10.00, she informed me the cost was $6.50, yet she gave me back $3.00 instead of $3.50, I guess she doesn't know how to count. This same woman, bartender, shut down the show at 10:30 instead of 11:00, no explanation to my knowledge. We were having a great time, we were not lough or anything so I don't get it! Yeah I am all done with...
