I came in to the chicken at 7:15 ish on Thursday the 7th. I ordered food for 5 people. What would have normally been around $45 dollars as $62 dollars. What is the world? I know food prices have actually dropped and you have chosen to raise your prices. Your cashier informed us it was due to your liking of raising prices due to football season. Way to stick it to the residents of your city!
I personally ordered the "BUFFALO RANCH CHICKEN" I asked your cashier opinion of the sandwich. She stated it wasn't a favorite of hers but explained the sandwich. Which has the stated buffalo sauce. When it came out I had just a smudge of the sauce. And I was under the impression it was a dipped BUFFALO CHICKEN sandwich. So I went to the grill and asked for a bit more. I was informed I would have to pay more for it. WHAT IN THE WORLD???? I explained that I was informed of how it was made and was irritated to be told I had to pay even more. So I walked away after asking if the guy I was speaking to was the manager in charge. (Curly red/blond hair). He was. Just then my daughter found me to tell me her fries were cold. As I walked back around the corner your cooks were all laughing at the fact I had asked and complained about Buffalo sauce. (So funny your customer could even ask that....hahah) I asked the to get her hot fries. The same "manager" shook his head as if I was just there to complain. He took his hand to touch the fries. Like I was lying to him. Whatever.
So after I was almost done with my meal. The same manager came to find with with one of your gravy cups FULL of Buffalo sauce. Set it on the table and said here. And walked away. I called after to him to let him know it was to late. I was done. And why would he bring me a full cup full when it was way to much to even ask for a little bit more just 5 minutes before. He stated he "called" his general manager who stated that he could just give me some. WTH???? So your establishment was way to good to make a customer happy and give her a TINY BIT MORE. BUT THEN COULD BRING A WHOLE CUP FULL. I stated that it wasn't very nice to laugh at acustomer. Did he come to his senses and actually call his general manager? Or was he afraid I would do this exact email because of the way I was treated.
You can bet your ass I won't be back anytime soon. And I'm sure my measly dollar may not mean much to you but I can assure you that it will affect how myself and friends frequent the chicken. The prices sky rocketed and your services its friendly. Which is quite a shame. I thought the original aggieland bar would be better than this.
As well as myself being an UBER driver and telling folks to come here. That won't be happening either. Like I said. I sure you could care less about my dollar but I can tell you, I certainly care about my dollar when being spent on food....
Read moreI went down to pick up my son for Christmas break. We walked over from Walton to grab some food before heading out. I know this place is iconic in College Station but just have never taken the time to go. As I walked in through the saloon type swinging door, a very distinct smokey wood aroma filled the air. It was everything I thought it would be...low-key (this was a Tuesday evening)country themed bar and grill, with emphasis on the BAR. Small tables and chairs were scattered throughout the larger space near the entrance. Proceeding through a large doorway, the ceilings got lower and walls got closer. Some pool tables to one side and to the other, almost like a tunnel with a long bar in between. We walked through the tunnel-like hall to a bustling kitchen area frying up burgers and fries and they were delicious! The kitchen offered basic diner type menu. The price for two cheeseburgers, fountain soda, and loaded fries was $25. I had a small Shiner on tap and it was right at $5. Several domestic and imported beers were on tap at the walk up bar. One in the back and front of the establishment. Extremely nostalgic decor(if it can be called as such) and atmosphere. Wood walls and tables. Carvings of initials with dates going so far back the flat surfaces had been whittled into small peaks and valleys worn smooth through the years. Old school Texas country playing all around with the chatter of several college students celebrating the survival of another semester. And now I can say, Yes. I have been to the Dixie Chicken! And, yes, I remember leaving. ...but there is always next time!!!...
Read moreYes, it’s a local institution, but I was really let down by the food.
It’s walk up counter style ordering and then they call your name to come pick up your food. Food came out quick and staff were friendly, no problems with either of those.
The chicken fried chicken on toasted bread was just meh, ok. Chicken was juicy and not too greasy, but it just didn’t have a lot of flavor to it. It was bland. Added a small order (which was actually a decent portion) of the Tijuana Fries. With a name like Tijuana Fries, I expecting something with some heat. All it consisted of was fries smothered in Monterrey Jack and cheddar cheese. The picture on their website looks like it might have jalapenos and bacon on it, but mine didn’t. These two items and a Bud Light was $17.75 - OUCH!
The burger was pitiful looking and was $5 with no fries. Whataburger has MUCH better burgers than this one was.
Positives: Plenty of seating 8 pool tables or so. Two bars to order more drinks from Outside deck
The place has a cool vibe and a unique ambiance to it, maybe a good place to hang out and drink later in the evening, but for dinner, it is highly overrated. No bueno on...
